With the growing healthcare disparity crisis and a critical shortage of “culturally sensitive” primary care physicians in California, particularly in the Inland Empire, CSU, San Bernardino is an ideal location to bring awareness to future health care professionals. The Pre-Health Conference, organized by the Medical and Pre-Health Student Society (MAPSS), targets underrepresented students from all colleges and universities in Southern California interested in pursuing a career in allied health professions. We hope to increase the ethnic diversity of students pursuing a career in health care and encourage awareness of the problems affecting health care policy and health care reform, but most importantly, to increase the knowledge of students applying to medical, graduate, and health science schools. Our plans for the conference include keynote speakers, dean’s panel, health professions panel, various workshops, and a Health Professions/Recruitment Fair. Currently, we are in the process of reaching out to many medical and graduate schools with the hope of gaining support. Valuing the future of aspiring pre-medical and pre-health students, the Medical & Pre-Health Student Society (MAPSS) is hosting the 1st Annual Pre-Medical & Pre-Health Conference designed to foster successful careers in healthcare and medicine for students across Southern California. Come join us for this exciting event aiming to inspire, inform and ignite you on your path towards a successful career in Medicine! Feel free to contact us anytime at csusbpremed@gmail.com
