It’s been one full week since our Station Landing clinic has opened, and it has been a successful one! Our team saw about 30 patients over the week for cases like eye issues, ear issues, and lacerations. We performed x-rays, ran diagnostic bloodwork, and placed sutures. We’re glad to see the impact our clinic has already made on the community, and we look forward to continuing to provide urgent vet care to pet owners in the Boston area. 😊

For , we’re demonstrating how nail trims and vet visits don't have to be stressful – it all starts with Fear Free! It’s time for this adorable puppy’s first nail trim, so a few of our Veterinary Emergency + Referral Center of Hawaii team members show what to do and what NOT to do when trimming puppies’ nails. A great Fear Free technique we use on our patients is yummy distractions – keeping pets focused on a delicious treat in front of them instead of the nail trimming helps build trust and create a positive experience at the veterinary hospital. We NEVER recommend rolling pets on their side. This creates more stress, causing the patient to become confused and squirmy while flailing their legs. With repeated exposure and positive experiences, young patients like this little guy will grow up with little to no fear when visiting a veterinary facility!

This past Monday during off hours at our Oceanside clinic, a few of our team members were at the clinic having a meeting with our Senior Director. During the meeting, a client came to the door with her dog, Cooper, who had a swollen face. The owner kindly asked for her pet to be seen, and without question, our team brought them inside and cared for him. With the team effort of Dr. Buck, Michael, Linsey, and Melissa (and a little diphenhydramine), Cooper’s swelling began to look and feel better! We were glad to provide Cooper and his owner veterinary care, even on our “off days”!

A few things to know:

🐾 Appointments are available for same day visits. Walk-ins are welcome, but we encourage making appointments to reduce wait time.

With the recent opening of our first Veterinary Urgent Care by Ethos located near two of our Emergency & Specialty hospitals, it’s important to note about that the clinic is:
🕓 Open later in the day and into the evening, 7 days per week
🗓 Only has same day appointments available

Some conditions really can’t wait, and same day appointments can eliminate the need to wait at a busy emergency room when your pet is uncomfortable, but stable. You’re able to wait comfortably at home, knowing your pet will get the care they need, and can reduce stress and anxiety for everyone involved, including your pet.
