It’s definitely been “San Diego” cold so here’s a little tip for your little ones who might be more inclined to play indoors… set up balloon volleyball! 🎈 It’s a great way to work on reciprocal play and helps with the development of hand-eye coordination! There are so many physical benefits too such as improving shoulder stability, ROM, core, balance, grading of upper body, and visual tracking!

Facilitating play groups is one of our favorite ways to deliver occupational therapy services. Allowing kids to utilize their newly learned play skills and giving them a space to learn from each other is always beneficial to their growth and development. 🩵😉🛝

Best of luck to our At Play families as they return to school for the 2024-2025 year. Personally as a parent of a senior and freshman in high school, I am personally trying to hold back all my mama tears watching my own girls drive off to school together (obviously I’m no longer the driver). Keep calm parents and guardians as these first few weeks can certainly be filled with lots of emotions for many, many reasons! ❤️🙏😊

I love games that allow siblings to work on basic play skills. Games such a Pop the Pig, Banana Blast, Giggle Wiggle, and Yeti In My Spaghetti are easy to modify and fun for all age groups!

We are headed into a really busy time of year. Make sure that you and your child are enjoying some quiet down time as a family. Out of town visitors, disruption of routines, and attending/hosting big gatherings can take a toll. Remember - as adults - if you are feeling overwhelmed, your child may be feeling the same way. It’s always OK to say no and take a much needed break. Its one of the many tools we teach in our self-regulation sessions. ❤️ 🎄☃️🎿🕎
