Peace of mind - sleep for parents- practical support like laundry, cleaning pump parts and bottles - giving tips and tricks on newborn care - reassuring and teaching mom on all things postpartum - giving referrals - soothing and caring for their newborn - giving positive feedback and encouragement ……: which one of these things a postpartum doula does during an overnight shift do you think parents love and need the most?

Happy National Pet day!! Oh how we love our two rescue dogs! They come with some issued for sure haha… But wow they are so loving to us! Doggies often are the babies of the family aren’t they ? So many families I work with have dogs… I think I’ve seen about every breed from Pomeranian to rescue mutt to retriever to pug to labradoodle…. All were so very loved, but also needed to go through a lot of change when a little human baby was added to the family… Often they needed a little bit extra love, which I am always happy to give!

Spring is here !! New life is everywhere ! Even right outside my back door in the ceiling fan, a momma bird made a nest and laid three eggs for the second year in a row… little baby birds expected soon… I can’t escape little ones anywhere 🤣 🪺 🐣

It is still bringing me such joy to walk alongside all the families I get to work with who have a newborn. I get to hold, support, encourage and care for them in the sweetest first weeks and months of their life as a growing family! I feel blessed to do the work I do and see families thrive while I walk alongside them. To the wonderful doula friends I’ve made and to many many more families I get to meet along the way! Happy world Doula week 2026!

On the last night with this sweet pea after supporting her family 3 overnights a week for 10 weeks, it is bittersweet to say goodbye. But it’s amazing to see her thrive, watch mom be confident and have her almost do a 7hr stretch of sleep tonight! Time to move on to the next family but first… a couple more snuggles while saying goodbye to this sweet little girl!I still love being a doula and feel so lucky to be a part of these tender first weeks with all these families…

The first few weeks in 2026 have already been a good start in taking better care of myself! I’ve been going to the gym 3 times a week, eating clean and healthy food, finding things that bring me joy… Sitting by my fireplace place, going on dates with my husband, finding things to enjoy with my boys, exploring the hobbies that I enjoy such as cooking, baking sourdough bread, volunteering with my boys serving our unhoused friends , making photo books, planning our trips for 2026… bring it on 2026! 🩷

So so cute when my youngest made ‘mom at work’ from Lego’s today 😍 started as a joke when he made his dad at work.. then said: I have to do yours too mom! And he first put me in front of the TV haha had to explain to him that that never happens at work .. so he changed it to a painting and added a baby bottle instead !
I love what I do.. supporting the parents on the best journey of their lives is a privilege each time 🥰

I just love when I care overnight for a breastfed newborn and a few weeks in, we can start giving a bottle to give mom a little break. The parents feel so happy that they’re able to sleep a little bit longer. This is so important for mental health and sanity! Such a big part of what we do as a Postpartum Doula, is making sure the parents take care of themselves so they can take good care of their children. And if I get rewarded with cute little milk dream smiles, that’s just a bonus 😍😍😍

I’m so grateful this year for the families that trust me to support them. I just love how, though I give it so much, still it feels like I get more in return ! The bond in those early nights, the thankfulness, the genuine appreciation and friendship I often get in return, how is that work? I just love it! And having the health and opportunity to do this work, finding work that I love to do, is something I’ll always be grateful for. 🧡

Oh my goodness!!! Barbie is pregnant ?!! 😉
I’m all for postpartum doula support for every new parent ! So Barbie, I would say: make sure you find your tribe !! Get doula support, surround yourself with other parents for emotional support and make a postpartum plan 🩷💙 I mean, who wouldn’t want to be Barbie’s postpartum Doula? 😅

feeling thankful for this bunch .. for my whole family, for good health, for how fortunate we are, for the privilege of raising compassionate loving boys, for seeing them care for the world and people and animals in it 🩵 for being able to travel and showing my boys the world from different perspectives and teaching them there is more than one right way.. to be open minded and love others and always, always share and be grateful 🩵
