🌿🌿 Mullein 🌿🌿
Verbatim Thapsus
Great Mullein has been utilized for thousands of years in traditional medicine. Dioscorides, a Greek physician, pharmacologist and botanist wrote about it in his Materia Medica around 2,000 years ago. Mullein has many benefits both topically and internally. However Mullein is probably most noted for its amazing aid in lung health. The flowers of this ally act as a demulcent creating a soothing anti inflammatory coating over the mucus membranes while the leaves are astringent and expectorant. Thus helping your lungs to expel excess mucus.
Mullein contains mucilage and small amounts of saponins and tannins. The mucilagenous constituents are thought to be responsible for the soothing actions on the mucus membranes. The saponins maybe responsible for the expectorant actions. It's anti inflammatory and anti spasmodic therapeutic actions can also help relax the muscles during a attack and open bronchial tubes.
Mullein can also be used topically. It is wonderful for earaches, rashes and wound care.
Mullein is a protective plant and is a strong support ally during ceremony for helping you to align your connection to source as well as bringing you into full integrity.

Mullein can be used in a smoking blend, tea, tincture, oxymel as well as topically.

🌿 The Elder🌿 Elderberry and Elderflower
(Sambucus Nigra)

In ancient mythology the elder tree is a highly sacred tree with a spirit known as Elder mother, living inside the tree. In many ancient legends the elder tree is a magical tree and symbolizes good health and prosperity.
Most famously the elder has been treasured for its medicinal uses. Hippocrates listed it among the prominent plants of his "Material Medica".
More recently a study showed that the compounds from the elderberries can directly inhibit the influenza virus's entry and replication in human cells, and can help strengthen a person's immune response to the virus. It inhibits the early stages of infection by blocking key viral proteins responsible for both the viral attachment and the entry into the host cells . In addition it also identified that elderberry stimulated the cells to release certain cytokines, which are chemical messengers that the immune system uses for communication between different cell types. A more efficient response against invading pathogens.
Although the leaves, stems and unripe berries are unsafe to eat the ripe berries and white flower clusters have been used since what seems like the beginning of time. The elderberry has also been shown to support skin health, promotes mental health, is a natural diaretic, natural laxative, lower's blood sugar, improves heart health and bone health, relief for allergies, and may assist in fighting cancer.
