I spent the day at UCLA’s Olive View Hospital in Sylmar, CA handing out 500 meals to all hospital personnel. This hospital is an infectious disease hospital and received the first Covid-19 US patient from Wuhan. They also cared for the 103 yr. old woman who survived the 1918 Spanish Flu only to succumb to Covid.

I had the great pleasure to speak with the hospital director, an infectious disease specialist )whose name is Judy😊). She said that the media truly doesn’t know the extent of this virus. She summed it up this way: we don’t know why the virus presents in so many different ways; it affects the aveoli in the lungs, not the bronchi (windpipe extension). The aveoli are where oxygen is exchanged and when blocked...well, you know. She said the scariest part is reflected by a 21 year old, no prior condition, patient on a ventilator who is not doing well. She had 2 prior negative Covid tests and was only admitted days after the second test when her body crashed. The doc said there is no fully accurate tests and there are countless asymptomatic infected people out there and not enough people are taking it seriously.

On a lighter note...the weather is beautiful out here...but not quite as beautiful as these healthcare HEROES!
