We talk about this a lot, and felt like it was time to bring it forward.
There’s a lot of language being thrown around in the wellness world these days. Words that sound powerful, but are often vague or misused. And to be honest, we get why they’re everywhere. They catch attention and help sell things.
But when we stop asking what these words actually mean, we lose something important. We bypass complexity. We oversimplify things that deserve time, care, and nuance.
And honestly? Speaking up about this isn’t easy. We’re still learning and don’t have all the answers. But it’s hard to ignore how people are being misled, how often practices are watered down, and how language is used to cover up things that aren’t always safe or ethical.
So instead of staying quiet, we want to open a conversation. We’re not here to call people out. We want to call ourselves in. We want to create space for more honest conversations about this work.
“Breathwork.”
“Trauma-informed.”
“Biohacking.”
“Reset your nervous system.”
“Emotional intelligence.”
“Healing trauma.”
“Transformation.”
You’ve probably seen these words everywhere. Maybe you’ve used them yourself. We all have. They’re catchy. They’re powerful. But often, they’re unclear.
Many of these phrases have become placeholders, used to sound smart or promise a result. But in doing so, we can miss what they’re really pointing to: something deeply human. Something personal. Something worth slowing down for.
At the heart of it, this work is about learning to know yourself. Your biology. Your physiology. Your psychology. The way your body responds. The patterns you’ve developed. The stories you’ve lived. Your humanness.
One of the gifts of a breath practice isn’t about fixing or optimizing. It’s about reconnecting with your design. Not someone else’s formula. Not a guru’s system. Not a shortcut. Just your own breath. Your way back to yourself.
Let’s start there.
What are the wellness words you hear all the time? Maybe you feel confused by them, disagree with how they’re used, or just don’t feel aligned with them. We’d love to hear. 🫶
