Today, 9.11.20, marks 19 years since the day that changed our country, and the world forever. As a native New Yorker living on the other side of the country, I do a lot to remind myself of my roots, such as pictures to remind me of my beloved city. So many people lost their lives, and this event impacted the mental health and well-being of survivors. Today, I light candles to honor my first hometown (queens New York), and my forever hometown (Long Island ) in memory of those who sacrificed all, those who struggled and continue to struggle with mental health, and those who may have lost their battle with mental health.
Remember , today is a day to be kind and do a good deed, or 11!
911day.org has several ways to engage in a good deed, including taking action to reach out to your local representative in support of the 988 hotline! For those of you who are unfamiliar, the 988 hotline would be the 3 digit national su***de prevention hotline that would positively impact individuals in crisis.
