🌚 ♒️ Chinese New Year happens every year on the New Aquarius Moon in China, which means it usually occurs within a day of the Aquarius New Moon in North America. This event is often referred to as the ‘Lunar New Year.’
Chinese astrology upholds the archetypal qualities of 12 animal totem signs. Each sign rotates every 12 years with 5 alternating elements. Each element occurs for two years in a row and the following year the next element takes its two-year turn. The 5 elements (in order) are Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth.
The Elements
* Metal carries Water
* Water feeds Wood
* Wood starts a Fire
* Fire creates Earth
* Earth holds Metal
The 12 Chinese zodiac signs take place in the following order:
Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
🐱 The Year of the Cat is the name given by the Vietnamese to the Year of the Rabbit — they take the Cat to be the symbol in the zodiac, not the Hare.
In the Chinese calendar, we have reached the year 4721. Every twelve years, the Year of the RABBIT (HARE) rolls around, and every sixty years, we come back – full-circle – to the specific rabbit elemental known as the WATER RABBIT.
⛩ Last year, the Chinese Year of the Water Tiger began on February 1st and it ends on Saturday, January 21st,, 2023. We’ll begin the Year of the Water Rabbit on Sunday, January 22nd, 2023. The Water Rabbit is followed by the Year of the Wood Dragon: February 10th, 2024 — January 28, 2025.

RABBIT 🐇
——- 🌿 🥕 🌿 ——-
People born under the Year of the Rabbit (or Hare) can be quite Venusian. They’re often lovers, not fighters. They are generally merciful, elegant, and they adore beauty. They are also very kind and loving in their demeanor. Rabbits are particularly offended by – and sensitive to – hostility and hatred. They may appear very gentle or delicate, with soft or subtle features, but they are often quite strong minded and strong willed. They enjoy the pursuit of a lifestyle filled with precision and orderly conduct. They are generally cautious and like to take things slowly.
Rabbit people are often fully immersed in their projects, both business and personal, and they are inspired by the strength of their own aspirations. When they are “in the zone” with their talents, they are exceedingly creative and prone to producing exceptional results.
If they exhibit any sign of aggression, which is not a character trait of the Rabbit, they are likely to be a passive-aggressive personality, subtly manipulative and persuasive. These Rabbit personalities are not malicious or ill willed, and their harmful tendencies are by no means intended to hurt anyone. They sincerely believe they have everyone’s best interest in mind. They may also be especially protective of their clan or prone to applying all means of self preservation around their territory.
Rabbit people want to be accepted and to have some input towards creating a better environment. They are not afraid of work and enjoy seeing the fruits of their labors. They enjoy reflecting and sitting back in a serene and peaceful environment, especially once the dust has settled and the hubbub of daily life has run its course at the end of the day.
Rabbits are not aggressive, but they are not exactly docile either. They are quite keen and observant when they want to be but, because they’re prone to being calm and serene, they can sometimes miss things. They may appear high strung or nervous, but they know how to relax when they feel safe. They have an astute sense of style, sophistication, and class. They can be very attractive and endearing.
Rabbits can be wise and considerate, but on the downside they are sneaky and obsessive. Overall, the tranquil quality of the Rabbit’s personality often sets people at ease and Rabbit folks are good at avoiding harm to themselves.
Rabbit people are generally good listeners, hence, they represent the classic animal totem with the surprisingly elongated ears. However, Rabbits are very independent and they are not necessarily inclined to apply the advice or suggestions they’re listening to. You might say that they use their listening skills to hear what they want to hear, and to pick out what they need to hear.
Stress and conflicts can be especially harmful to the Rabbit personality and it is wise if they choose careers that contribute to easing their stress levels rather than challenging them. Rabbits generally do better in positions of management, a place where they can use their excellent organizational skills and control the level of demand their job places upon them. The kind of work that allows breaks, shorter hours, or rest periods, is the most ideal arrangement for Rabbit people.
Rabbits make excellent teachers, counselors, therapists, artists, musicians, actors, fashion designers, and massage therapists. They love to spend their money on homes, cars, and furniture. They appreciate art, crafts, and beautiful things and they are intrigued by beautiful and practical antiques. As a general rule, rabbits make sound investments, and it is good for them to invest in things that appreciate over time, especially since they are not always good at hanging on to cash.
If you know of Rabbit people who do not fit these personality descriptions, bear in mind that systems such as Western or Chinese Astrology are multifaceted parts of an intricate and complex human makeup. Sometimes the vast combination of celestial traits in humans can bring surprising results, and sometimes, through sheer persistence of will, as well as environmental and cultural influences, people change completely from their inherent nature into something phenomenally different. This is why it is not wise to blithely accept every probability predicted in this writing. You have the power to change what’s around you!
WATER 💧
The Water element (水; pinyin: shuǐ)
in Chinese astrology is the most passive (Yin) of the five elements, and it is considered to be calming, serene, and tranquil. This depicts a somewhat benevolent, non-threatening, and comforting expression of spirit.
Water people are generally allured by the hypnotic, inviting, and accommodating flow of H2O.
Water is often known as a feminine element in most systems. It is cleansing, revitalizing, and essential for survival.
The strengths of a water personality in Chinese astrology allude to the reflective and comforting qualities of the heart. Water people are mainly gentle natured and are perceptively insightful on intuitive and instinctual awareness.
They are often identified by their ability to be passive, still, and to look inward with subtle contemplation.

As for Water Rabbits, the water element makes these folks particularly gentle spirited or potentially, hyper-sensitive, and perhaps not as assertive as the other Rabbit personalities.
Water Rabbits are very easily affected by the energies around them and are motivated by their intuitive qualities. Some water Rabbit people have perception that is quite uncanny, with a supernatural quality that to others may seem otherworldly or hard to fathom.
Water Rabbit people who are one of the three astrological water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces,) are especially gifted with strong instincts and psychic tendencies. It is important that people with these water traits don’t overtax their abilities or strengths. Hypersensitive individuals need rest and replenishing nutrients to feed their hyperactive nervous systems.
