The San Diego People First summer picnic was a huge success! Over 50 people came together to enjoy the afternoon with games and cake. A few of our very own board members, Taylor Wiesner, Cali Williams, and Kimberly Rucker, and Client Information Specialist, Viri, attended and connected with dozens of self-advocates in the community. What a way to celebrate summer and self-advocacy!

Introducing Risk Busters! A new health and safety series designed to share practical tips, trusted resources and important information to help keep our community healthy and informed.

First up: Urinary tract infections (UTIs). UTIs are a common infection that can make you feel uncomfortable and sick. If a UTI is not treated, it can get worse and lead to more serious health problems. Acting early can help you feel better faster and avoid getting sicker. Make sure to see your doctor or get medical care right away if you think you have a UTI. Also, remember if you are caring for an individual and they are acting out of character from their baseline, seek medical attention.

Please see these resources from the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Wellness Toolkit for tips on identifying and preventing UTIs: https://tinyurl.com/445a5pxu
