✨Postpartum✨
In my eyes, postpartum is equally, if not more important than birth. ✨
Here me out… Yes, birth is beautiful and so monumental in our transition into motherhood. It is often the first thing people want to hear about once baby has arrived. It is a memory you will hold onto forever. I do not disagree with any of these things. However, postpartum can be just as beautiful and memorable. ✨
Remember, birth is one day; postpartum is forever. If you do a Google search, it will tell you that the postpartum period is considered 6-8 weeks, depending on your delivery. In my opinion, it is much, much longer. ✨
Did you know that the postpartum hormone drop is considered the single largest sudden hormone change in the shortest amount of time for any human being, at any point in their life cycle? That is HUGE! ✨ (Dr. Aviva Romm)
Although the labor and delivery process receives considerable attention, the postpartum period is a critical stage that demands careful consideration and strategic preparation. ✨
Proactively preparing for it can facilitate the newborn family bonding process, foster improved physical and emotional well-being, and contribute to a more seamless transition into motherhood. ✨
A few areas of consideration during this monumental time:
🤎 Physical Recovery
🤎 Emotional Well-Being
🤎 Breastfeeding & Infant Care
🤎 Support System
🤎 Self-Care
🤎 Logistical & Practical Preparation
🤎 Communication & Relationships with your HCP.
