We're looking at through the lens of trauma.

When a new life challenge presents itself, how are you receiving it? What is coming with you as you meet it? Do you recognize old wounds getting triggered? A good place to start is by acknowledging the trauma aspect of this experience, and being willing to dig a little deeper. I learned this quote early in my therapy career, and it truly shifted my perspective on mental health. That space isn’t always a given - and for those of us with a trauma history, it won’t come automatically - not without change. What does come automatically is a protective reaction - a defensive pattern - a loop of cause+effect that we can’t see in this forest for the trees. And what Frankl is saying here is that we can stop - and we can change the course of our patterns to create new, healthier patterns. That power is in us - the power to pause, assess our reaction, and choose the right response. And that does feel like freedom. What a relief!

Do you feel like you can pause-
reflect-
and choose a response that comes from the best version of yourself?
