Hi :) For those who don’t know the voice behind this account… my name is Phoebe and I’m the owner of Pandr. Today is my 36th birthday, but it also marks 10 years of working for myself. Technically not 10 years of Pandr (my first business name was San Diego Letters, iykyk), but still a huge milestone.

Supposedly 78% of small businesses close in their first year. That drops to 50% by year five and roughly 35% by year ten, so I feel really lucky to still be here. I’ve made it through the rocky early years of being a baby entrepreneur, a global pandemic, partnership restructuring, and a lot of trial and error.

But all the good things have led me to travel the world painting murals for amazing clients alongside amazing people. Thank you to everyone who has supported Pandr over the years. I love ya. Here’s to 10 more!!!!!!!

Murals are honestly one of the easiest ways to transform a space and make it feel custom and branded to the client. The process is pretty straightforward too.

All I need to get started is:
• renderings or photos of the wall
• dimensions
• any inspiration/branding info

From there, I can put together pricing options and a mood board for you. Pricing is generally based on square footage, with custom mural work typically starting around $45/sqft.

Hotels, offices, multifamily, restaurants, retail, wellness spaces… let’s make your next project feel way more special. 🎨

Some final and BTS shots of the space we pained up for in Dallas ✨ Always so satisfying to see a project once all the construction equipment is finally out of the way.

For this mural, I worked with Navy Federal to incorporate their branding, pull colors from the surrounding interior design, and weave in icons inspired by Dallas. The goal was to create something bold, welcoming, and energizing for the employees who will use this break room every day.

I love projects like this because murals really can transform a functional space into somewhere people actually want to spend time. 🤍

Painting this super cute mural for a new restaurant in New Orleans was such a joy from start to finish. ✨ We brought Also Known As Design Studio’s vision to life over the course of a 2-day install, and it was one of those projects that instantly made people stop and smile while we were painting.

I love collaborating with other design firms because it feels like the perfect mix of creative worlds colliding. They handled the branding and concept, and I got to translate it onto the wall at a larger-than-life scale. The colors and playful energy brought so much joy and personality to the neighborhood, and it was so fun watching the space transform in real time.

Ever since that conversation, I almost always give clients more than one pricing option. Since I primarily paint murals, I usually do this based on square footage.

For example:
• Option 1: Paint the full wall
• Option 2: Paint about 3/4 of the wall
• Option 3: Paint a smaller featured section

What’s interesting is that most clients end up choosing the middle option because it feels “just right.” Not too expensive, but still impactful. That’s the Goldilocks principle!

It also changes the conversation from a simple yes or no into a decision between options. Clients feel like they have flexibility and control over the budget, and I’ve found it’s helped me land way more signed contracts over the years.

If you’re an artist or creative offering proposals, try this on your next one. It really works!!

I talked about my mural pricing with a high school class a couple weeks ago because they deserve to know what’s possible from an early age. No gatekeeping. If you’re going to pursue art as a career, you should understand how people actually make money doing it.

Of course I’ve worked my way up to my current pricing over the years. It didn’t start here. But I really wish someone had at least told me to charge by the square foot when I was first starting out. You don’t know what you don’t know, and that simple shift would have saved me so much time and confusion.

Charging by the square foot is an easy formula. It makes pricing feel clear and easier for clients to understand too. No guessing, no pulling numbers out of thin air.

My project minimum has also increased over time, and it’s been one of the best things I’ve done for my business. It helps set boundaries, filters out projects that aren’t the right fit, and makes sure the work I take on is actually sustainable.

If you’re an artist, take this as your sign to start thinking about your numbers. And if you’re a client, this is a little peek behind the curtain of how mural pricing actually works.

Save this for later and send it to an artist friend who needs it! Als feel free to download my FREE pricing guide which is linked in my shop!
