You ever eat something and just know it’s not about the food?

Like, you’re not even hungry. You just need a break. Or something to do. Or something to feel better for a second.

I do it too.

It’s not about being “bad” or “undisciplined.” It’s usually just called - being human. Tired, stressed, overstimulated, bored - fill in the blank.

This isn’t a “don’t eat it” post.
It’s more like, notice it.
That’s it. Just notice.

Because when you do, you actually get to choose what might help.

Sometimes it’s food.
Sometimes it’s stepping outside.
Or moving your body.
Or speaking to someone who gets it.

Whatever it is, you’re allowed to need something.

Over the years, I’ve noticed certain wellness habits become so popular, they’re almost taken as gospel.
But here’s the thing — just because something is trending in health circles doesn’t mean it’s actually working for your hormones, energy, or digestion.

In this post, I’m unpacking 5 widely praised routines that might be doing more harm than good — and why it’s worth reconsidering them:

1️⃣ Over-Exercising Without Recovery
Movement is great, but overdoing it without rest can elevate stress hormones and not give the body space for recovery.

2️⃣ Undereating in the Name of Eating “Clean”
Skipping carbs or fats to eat “perfectly” can reduce the nutrients your hormones actually need to function.

3️⃣ Megadosing Supplements Without Testing
More isn’t always better. Excess of certain vitamins can throw off your body's natural rhythm.

4️⃣ Waking Up Extra Early for Productivity
If it cuts into sleep, this habit will leave you more drained than productive.

5️⃣ Overloading on Raw Veggies & Smoothies
Raw isn’t always better — too many cold, fibrous foods can weaken digestion and impact thyroid health.

One of my absolute favorite things ever?
When clients send me pictures of their meals!! 😍
Not just because they look amazing, but because they represent care, consistency, and deep nourishment.

This week’s client meals? So much yum and so much intention.
From blood sugar-friendly chicken patties and cozy veggie stews, to high-protein oat bowls and gut-loving tempeh curry - every plate was a little love note to their body. 💛

It tells your body how to feel.
