Between the Christmas schedule, last weeks stress and that damn spraying in the sky, I was having all the things.

My girl Jen came to town and brought this for me. Let’s face it… sometimes it’s lovely to have people make things for you vs having to do every single thing yourself.

I did 2 days of elderberry for a total of 9 swigs. 1 clove of garlic before bed. And now I’m at Disney and only blew my nose 1 time as a precautionary measure in the last 3.5 hours.

Hit up for deets on her elderberry. Yum!!! And yay!!!

The girls

They had some front yard time this weekend.

The rain has fielded so much growth and of course delicious to these ladies, weeds!

They were out front about 2 hours Saturday and 1 hour Sunday.

That egg haul was Saturdays. After a Laycation for most of them during the week I figured that big buffet just pushed things right through.

Sunday had them going behind the HomeShed quite a lot even though I was calling for them to join me on my pulling weeds journey. At one point I ran in the house to check the oven and when I came back outside they were all on the porch at the front door waiting for me.

Momma!!! Where’s momma! Follow momma! Funny, funny girls.

In case I haven’t told you lately. Get chickens. A year ago is when I started researching. Reading all the things. I spent about 4 months and then picked hatch dates based on our at home schedule.

Get chickens! They are beautiful. Funny. Smart. Loving. Savage. Hilarious. Entertaining. Surprising. Good listeners. Loyal. Sweet. Appreciative. And they give you the best clean and amazing protein.

Get chickens.

Sour….dough!

If you don’t already know, if you are going to bread, it should be the good stuff. Can’t go wrong with a little ferment.

It can be easy. It can be hard. So get started and start easy.

I do offer live sourdough starter for pick up only. But I offer freeze dried sourdough so you can start when you are up for it.

I have a fresh batch in my freeze dryer right now. I have small rounds proofing on my butcher block right now.

I made some delicious roasted garlic and rosemary compound butter and I’m thinking some thin steak crostini will be what’s in store for din.

Starter is just $10 and will change your bread life.

It’s a New Year.

Sure, the calendar says 5. But most schools are getting back. Most vacations are ending. Most holiday closures are complete.

As we go gently into this new year I just want to extend a thank you.

Thank you to you, my clients. You love my products. You love the impact they have on you. You appreciate our conversations and my recommendations or advice based on things I’ve tried.

Because of that, I have some new things in store for you. Products that I’ve only made for myself will go retail. Recommendations will get personal and be really accessible should you choose.

I want to thank for having love and grace toward me over the last 2 years. It’s wild to look at my life and face the reality that I really started feeling better in November of this year. Almost 2 full years after my car accident. That has posed work front challenges to say the least!

Thank you to for just smiling when I would come in to do my thing. Even when my brain locked me out of realizing my products were there.

I won’t go into anything deeper…. But THANK YOU!!!! To everyone who has supported my small business. Love you so much.

Look for new and exciting things this year. I’m sticking with product recipes that speak to health and wellness. That serve your skin and longevity. Some of my new creations are spectacular. All of the long loved products are back. My brain finally released those recipes back to me. I’m excited about my vision for what this year will bring.

January is an intentionally slow month for me. It allows for a solid foundation for the year. But keep a look out because there will be leaks about what’s in store.

Thank you again for letting me be part of your life. For allowing me to impact your skin and body. For trusting me enough to share with those you love.

And even more to share yourself with me. THANK YOU!

Ahhhh….

I need the exhale!

I spent the early part of yesterday dealing with drops in my house. Then getting soaked on the roof. Then tearing up my knees and shins crawling around my attic.

But I think I’ve diverted the issue until it’s fix it time.

Until further notice I’ll be enjoying the darkness. The fireplace. The blankets. The bed. Winter movies.

I try to NOT do events in January. So I will only have 2 honey fundraisers this month.

But I’ll have plenty of new in store and you’ll start learning about it next week.

Until then… I’m no rush doing laundry, staying warm, burning wood, looking at my tree, smelling the winter smells, rubbing oil all over my body and sleeping.

So see you next month. Not really, but kinda!

More to hear next week. Happy weekend.

I leaned into this groove a few years ago. I think .origins puts it well.

It really makes a big difference.

I mean are you really supposed to go from a candy holiday to a darker time of year, family and turkey holiday, to another family, travel, work craziness, school craziness, gifts, wrapping, finances, and weather, then a stay up all night holiday that tends to involve food and alcohol and wake up in the morning all new?

I mean for realsies, how did we ever think that was true!?!

Instead I like to take a breath. Jot down all the things my creative flow has brought to my brain over the last 8 weeks.

No rush to undecorate. No rush to implement goals.

Instead, slow TF down and take some breaths and a couple of naps.

It allows me the time to be diligent in my plan and desires. And I like it!!!!

I hope you can take the pressure off and enjoy the winter cave. The dark, the warm food and drinks.

Then when the light shifts and your skin is drawn to the sun, we implement all that this darkness has prepared us for.

Happy New Year!!! Thanks for being part of my journey.

What’s up Wednesday

DUDE….

Trip out!

For my age folks MTV was such a pivotal aspect of our childhood.

The anticipation of the coming station that was discussed at dinner tables. The launch. The space shuttle network images. The video premiers. Staying up til midnight to watch the premier of thriller. The flipping it on after school to see the top songs of the day.

All the perms and freaking hair spray all over our tv screens! MTV news. Kurt Yoder. Downtown Julie Brown.

The start of reality tv shows.

The demise of music videos. Watching all of the critical lifetime events through a music focused lens as we grew into adulthood.

I’ll miss MTV for how it started. The impact it had on our childhood. The exposure it gave us to music, even genres we didn’t care for. And all of the interesting, funny, kind of crazy it exposed us to.

Thanks for that ride MTV!

Fire starters will help you get through winter.

We are well into the why is it so cold at night part of the year. So fires are a good idea!

These gems make the starting process super easy. Plus they are made with soy wax, nature finds and botanicals, so no nasty chemicals hanging out in your fireplace.

You can find these and they are a great thing to have on hand heading into the new year.

How’s it going?

Are you still in holiday mode? Are you back to work? Are you just starting to come up for air? Vacation? People? Places?
I’m keeping my decor up longer this year. I need some fireplace and Christmas light nights.

But I’m also prepping for some of the 2026 seasonal products.

All of this pine is in the freeze dryer. It smells amazing!

Pruning a Christmas tree is kinda crazy, but man it smells good. I’m going to make a simmer pot a little later today and am excited about how fantastic the house will smell.

In my head it’s kind of crazy that I’m prepping for products a year from now…. But yeah, gotta preserve this amazing aroma while this tree is still fresh and be ready so that by the top of November these beautiful simmer sacks are ready for you to take home.

Hope you have a good Monday in this odd limbo week that happens this time of year. Enjoy the everything, the nothing, the old, the new, the confusion this week brings and let’s see what the day holds!

Day 843 between Christmas and New Years….

Clear skies had me out early. Still out and happy it’s not freezing a few hours in.

Anyone else discombobulated.

Going to work on getting back to normal today with laundry and chicken/yard chores.

Not to mention I have thrown food prep out the window since Christmas and have been living off tacos and homemade almond clusters. But today I’ll cook some steaks and do some food prep for what apparently starts a new week tomorrow.

May the holiday and end of year force be with you.

Enjoy the time, people, work, chaos, rest, travel or any and all combinations of that.
