The hepatitis B vaccine is the first step in keeping newborns safe from a serious liver infection that can be passed from parent to baby during birth. Many women don’t know they are carrying the virus, have false negative tests, or are exposed after their prenatal tests are complete. That’s why the hepatitis B vaccine, recommended at birth, is such an important part of newborn care.

Hepatitis B is a virus that hurts the liver and can cause serious lifelong health problems.
• If a baby gets hepatitis B at birth, 9 out of 10 will stay infected for life.
• Of those babies who stay infected, 1 out of 4 may die early from liver disease.

Because treating hepatitis B is difficult, preventing it from the very start is extremely important. 👉Please reach out to your CPCMG pediatrician with questions. 📲💻☎️
