For more than 25 years, Dr. Mel Kurtulus has provided endometriosis excision surgery, and was instrumental and bringing Robotic surgery to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.
Dr. Kurtulus has trained many doctors both locally and internationally in robotic surgery, in an effort to make it widely available to women who suffer from this debilitating disease.

SDWH is proud to introduce our newest provider, Cassandra Camise, PA-C

Cassandra is a compassionate and dedicated healthcare provider with a strong commitment to evidence-based care. With years of experience in both women’s health and dermatology, she understands the importance of offering comprehensive, thoughtful care to help patients achieve their best health and wellness. Cassandra strives to create a supportive environment where every patient feels heard, respected, and empowered to make informed decisions about their care.
Born and raised in San Diego, Cassandra is proud to serve the community she calls home. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and went on to complete her physician assistant training at Stanford University. With a broad skill set, Cassandra offers full-spectrum gynecologic care, including well-woman exams, infection checks, preconception and family planning counseling, IUD and Nexplanon placements, as well as the management of abnormal bleeding and pelvic pain.
Outside of her practice, Cassandra enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She has a passion for travel and loves exploring the great outdoors.
Cassandra is available at both the La Jolla and Encinitas locations.

Introducing Kasey Fontaine, PA-C

Kasey joined the SDWH team after relocating to San Diego from the Pacific Northwest. Kasey came to us with prior experience working as a PA in OB/GYN, urology, and urogynecology. She has training as a surgical first assist and has a certification in robotic surgery.
Kasey was raised in San Diego and received a B.S. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She then went on to work in women’s health as a medical assistant, where she discovered her passion for working in the field. She attended PA school at Touro University California (TUC), where she obtained a dual masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies and Public Health.
Her commitment as a physician assistant is to provide compassionate care and create a safe space for patients to feel comfortable discussing their most sensitive health concerns with their provider. With a degree in public health, she believes in reducing barriers to women’s health from all angles. She is passionate about providing trauma informed care and addressing both hormonal changes as well as mental health, as many times these are interrelated. Kasey provides evidence based care and ensures her patients feel safe and well educated before starting any new medications or pursuing a procedure/surgery.
Kasey sees full spectrum gynecology including annuals, birth control management, IUD and nexplanon placements, HRT consults, vaginal atrophy management, colposcopies, preconception/family planning, and provides pre and post surgical care. She is certified for Biote hormone replacement and trained with the MonaLisa touch as well as the Morpheus device providing cosmetic gynecology procedures.
In her free time, Kasey enjoys spending time with her husband and her 1-year-old puppy. She loves to be outside whether that is at the beach, on a bike ride, or exploring a new hiking trail. Kasey is available at both the La Jolla & Encinitas offices.
