Stretching! ✨(something I used to skip myself but now truly appreciate the benefit)
Regular stretching isn’t just about feeling good – it’s a powerful tool for preventing common challenges like contractures and managing spasticity for full-time wheelchair users, really for everyone!
💪 What are Contractures? These happen when muscles, tendons, or ligaments shorten and tighten, restricting your range of motion. For wheelchair users, this can impact everything from transfers to comfortable seating. Stretching helps keep tissues long and flexible!
⚡️ Taming Spasticity: Spasticity, often characterized by involuntary muscle tightness and spasms, can be uncomfortable and limit movement. Gentle, consistent stretching can help calm overactive muscles, improve muscle elasticity, and reduce the intensity of spasms.

Straight from Medicare.gov
No limit on outpatient therapy services… 🤔
Patient: “Why does my therapist say I maxed out on my therapy benefits?” 🤷‍♀️
Therapist: Because Medicare said you have reached your max benefits after $3,000 😧
This is the conversation I had today with a representative from Medicare. A patient was receiving therapy services earlier this year. This patient needed a specialized wheelchair assessment since the old wheelchair is no longer operable. My claim was automatically denied because the patient surpassed $3k for the year. I was told by the rep once claims reached “maximal benefits” then it will very likely be flagged and denied and an appeal will need to be submitted.
“No limit” might be technically correct, but misleading. If the patient wants more outpatient services, then comes the scrutiny and excessive paperwork to provide medically necessary outpatient therapy services. Didn’t CMS had a campaign of ❓❔
