San Diego Pharmacist Research Network (SDPharmNet™) is a practice-based research network in San Diego, California. Members engage in research projects that seek to identify and solve problems commonly encountered in their practices. The UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences provides methodological expertise needed to complete the projects.

On November 13, 2014, SDPharmNet™ held a seminar at UC San Diego on the topic of "Pharmacist Outcomes: Application of Health Services Research and Pharmacoeconomic Modeling to Demonstrate Value" presented by Dr. Anthony Morreale, PHARM.D., M.B.A., B.C.P.S., F.A.S.H.P.

Dr. Anthony Morreale is the Assistant Chief Consultant for Clinical Pharmacy Services and Healthcare Services Research for Department of Veterans Affairs Pharmacy Benefits Management. His presentation covered how to relate health services research to pharmacist activities, correlate clinical outcomes, capture pharmacist interventions and their impacts, and explore ways to implement this data in different practice settings.

After the seminar we held a discussion panel with the following pharmacy professionals:
Dr. Sarah Erickson: Health Outcomes Researcher at MedImpact
Dr. Michael Marquez: Pharmacy Clinical Specialist with Ralph’s Pharmacy
Dr. Jonathan Watanabe: Assistant Professor at UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy

SDPharmNet™ held a seminar on ‘Transitional Care’ and ‘Suicide Prevention’ on June 11, 2014. Dr. Grace Kuo, the director of SDPharmNet™, invited five speakers from the community and from SSPPS faculty to give presentations on pertinent topics for pharmacists today, including the changing role of community pharmacists, pharmacist managed hospital-to-home programs, and how pharmacists can recognize when a patient is suicidal and how to best offer assistance.
