Very excited to be showcasing my new line of plant-based and super clean Mexican superfood dips and sauces, Heroica Mexico (www.heroicamexico.com), now available in the refrigerated section of my favorite store from San Diego: Jimbo's

It is a dream come true to have Jimbo’s be the first store to carry given that I always said Jimbo’s was like Disneyland to me.

You don’t have to follow a 7-day workout regime to be healthy and fit. Experts say, even if you follow a 4-day workout regime, you can stay lean and healthy, but of course, only if you are following a healthy and balanced diet. So, if you are planning to challenge yourself to improve your diet – here are some reminders –
• Eat only when you are hungry. If you are hungry more than 3 times a day (meal times), then it may be that your meals are not good for you. For example, if you have a bowl of cereal with milk and some fruit for breakfast, I bet you will be super hungry a few hours later. Why? Because this breakfast is mainly sugar and will spike your blood sugar and then lead to a blood sugar crash which will make you hungry. The same thing could happen with a breakfast of only eggs. To stay satisfied between meals, consider a breakfast with adequate protein, healthy fats, and some good whole carbs like veggies and fruit.
• Don’t skip meals as this could lead to too much hunger at your next opportunity and less smart decisions. Now, if you have trained your body to burn fat instead of sugar for fuel, you may be able to do intermittent fasting, but that is not something you can get to in 1 day.
• Try to add a variety of colorful veggies to your platter, ideally in every meal.
• Avoid processed foods and foods high in sugar and fat.
• Drink plenty of water. Remember that you need at least ½ of your body weight (measured in lbs.) in ounces of water every day. That is a lot, and yes, you need to plan for it, or it will not happen.
Once you get accustomed to a healthy lifestyle, you cannot live without it. Better start today than tomorrow! And, if you fail today, then get up and keep trying!

I have been dairy-free for many year now. The benefit has been that my permanent sinus infections stopped for good. I was also able to stop needing a huge pack of Kleenex when I ran. After quitting dairy, I ran the and probably used 1 Kleenex in the full 3:40 hours of my run.

AFter many years of not eating dairy, I tried some cheese and what I found out was that the next morning I would wake up with a stuffed nose, but after getting up it went away. I also noticed that I would have thick phlegm in my throat, but also it cleared up after an hour or so. So, I kept this cheese treat as a very rare indulgence, which has allowed me to not get any infections since 2015.

A few weeks ago, I was in Switzerland and I decided that was the time to do my occasional dairy because I LOVE bars (vanilla with almonds)and they are much better in Switzerland. These bars used to be my addiction before, now they are a very special and treasured treat. And with only one, I did not get any reaction. And boy, was it yummy. This photo was taken by my husband to show how I felt. YUMMY.

Recently I was able to get a test to see my reactivity to sheep and goat dairy and found out that I do not react, i.e. that I am able to eat it. The first thing I did was try all the goat and sheep cheeses at and here are the results:

1. I loved them
2. I did not get the stuffed nose or phlegm
3. I did feel very, very heavy and not comfortable, a feeling I rarely feel now days.

So, I have goat and sheep products but in less amounts and I feel great and enjoy.

Now, going back to cow milk, I will do it very rarely and most likely for a magnum in Europe.

We have all been there. You are working, chatting with friends, watching TV, nibbling on popcorn, nuts, cheese, or a bag full of trail mix. Next time you look down, the bag or bowl is empty. You have probably eaten a few more servings than you even realized. It is the habit of mindless snacking that can easily rack up your calorie or sugar count for the day, especially if you’re reaching for candy over chopped veggies. To fight this problem:
• Keep water handy. If you find water boring, then add some fruit slices or lemon and a few drops of sweet-leaf stevia. You can also consider some type of sparkling water which can be more exciting. Another good one is hot tea, it can be soothing and calming.
• Set aside time for eating and just eating.
• Choose a snack with protein and some healthy fats instead of high carbs and/or unhealthy fats.
• Avoid eating on-the-go.
• Sip, rather than snack. And I don't mean tequila sipping for your snack. 😂🤣😂

Sugar contributes to various negative health impacts, and I am not just talking about tooth decay in children and adults here, but destructive diseases, including cancer. Cutting sugar from your diet will prevent these adverse health impacts, contributing to not only a smaller waistline but also a better and longer quality of life.
Apart from the aforementioned negative health impacts,
- Sugar significantly reduces the strength of your immune system, leaving you more at risk of getting sick. As I frequently tell my daughter, who do you want to defend you from viruses and bacteria, a weak fatigued army or a strong and energized army (aka as your immune system).
- Sugar can prevent you from having stable energy throughout the day
- Sugar leads to depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, irritability, and mood swings
- Sugar causes premature aging
- Sugar can also lead to the development of cancer or accelerate it
- Sugar causes insulin resistance, diabetes, and weight gain
- Sugar can affect your cholesterol
