She attended Universidad Autonoma de Baja California-Mexicali where she obtained her Medical Degree and graduated with honors in 2005. After completing medical school and the required year of community social service, she worked as a general practitioner in Mexico. Meet Dr. Duerbeck. Dr. Norman Duerbeck attended the University of California, Irvine where he received his Bachelor Degree in Science -Cum Laude. Thereafter, he attended Penn State Medical School and returned to Southern California for his residency training in OB-GYN.
After eight years in private practice, he realized his true calling was high risk obstetrics. As a result, he then completed his fellowship training in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Arizona where he was voted ‘Outstanding Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellow’ by the medical staff. He was also voted Governor’s Scholar in California and has served as an ‘Expert Medical Reviewer’ for the Medical Board of California. Dr. Duerbeck was voted one of America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.
He has been working at our practice since 2010.
Dr. Dowling was born and raised in San Diego. He graduated from University of San Diego High School in 1981. He attended UCSD and received Bachelor of Science degrees in Bio-engineering and Animal Physiology. He continued his post-graduate education at UCSD receiving his Doctor of Medicine in 1991. He did his OBGYN residency at University of Utah. He ultimately decided to focus his training on high risk obstetrics and pursued a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at UC Irvine.
Dr. Dowling began practicing medicine in 1997 and has been with Specialty Obstetrics since 2010.

Meet Dr. Janet Horenstein. She is part of Specialty Obstetrics since January 2011. She attended the University of California San Diego where she received a Bachelor of Science. In 1974, she moved to Mexico to attend medical school at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara where she discovered a passion for Obstetrics and Gynecology. After returning to the United States, she did her OBGYN residency training at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles and her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at LA County/USC.
Meet Dr. Yvonne Gollin. She joined our practice during the summer of 2015. She attended Stanford University, UCSF and completed her fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Yale University. She especially enjoys fetal transfusions and ultrasound.
Before moving to San Diego, Dr. Yvonne Gollin was a faculty member at Yale, Texas Tech and Loma Linda University Schools of medicine.
