But that is what I ended up being. Growing up, I was always into sports and had a fast metabolism so I didn't have to worry about what I was eating. I was skinny and could wear anything I wanted! When I graduated high school, the sports stopped. I sat on my ass in college and work all day and did not change my eating habits. Well, guess what? I was 26 and it caught up to me! I kept having to buy b
igger and bigger clothes. It was the end of February 2012 and I had just got back from San Diego, feeling depressed about how fit and beautiful Cali girls are. Then I got on Facebook and my friend, Megan, posted her before and after picture with her Weight Watchers experience. Then I said out loud, 'I'm tired of feeling sorry for myself! I'm tired of being unhappy with every piece of clothing I put on. I'm tired of being the FAT FRIEND!'
So that Friday, I marched into Weight Watchers and joined. I didn't want to waste my time or money, so I went in full force, ready to get the weight off! I decided to do the weigh-ins because it would give me more push since I would have to weigh in front of someone. I sat in on the first meeting and realized WW still allowed me to eat whatever I want; just helped me to make better choices! That night I joined a gym. The Fitness Rave helped change my attitude towards working out. Group fitness is what motivated me, plus knowing people there makes it an enjoyable experience. I do Body Jam Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Body Pump on the weekend. The first week I lost 5.2 lbs! That was enough to keep me going! I lost 20 lbs in the first month! I couldn't believe how fast it was coming off! After 2 months, I was down 30 lb. I kept thinking 'Is this real life?' Seeing the scale continue downward kept giving me more motivation. I couldn't wait to hit my goal! In September, I finally hit it, losing 50 lbs! I went from 198 lbs to 148 in a matter of 6 months. From size 17 to 9 (juniors). And now I buy smalls and mediums when I used to buy XL! I never thought I would be able to achieve my goal and now I couldn't be more proud of myself. I think one of the best things about my weight loss journey was how many people I inspired to choose a healthier lifestyle. That is what keeps me motivated! I will now continue to live a healthy and active lifestyle forever! :)
