It’s more than just selling my designs…
I did 4 events this month and boy was it a whirlwind. I’ve always loved markets but this month shined a light on a few things:
1. Profit is not always the only goal. Is it the main goal? Of course. But did I meet like-minded people? Did I sketch my next favorite piece during the event? Did I get to meet my regulars in person? All those things add up to a good event
2. As an eldest daughter, it’s so easy for me to hustle through and not ask for help. But I’m learning that asking for help is okay - needed! Let people help you, let them be there for you
3. Your art is not for everyone and that’s a good thing. That means you’ve found your specific voice, you’ve found what makes you unique. Does it still sting a little when people tell it to your face? Of course, but there’s strengths in knowing you’re not for everyone
4. Take a break, listen to your body. You can’t give 100% if you only have 50% to give. Rest, recoup, recharge. You can’t pour from an empty cup
I’ve learned a lot this week. Fellow small biz owners, what’s the best thing you’ve learned from doing events? Let’s support each other in the comments! 🫶🏼✨
