Women's Hormone Health

Women's Hormone Health ReNee Greenberg, RN, MS, LAc, IFMCP is founder Women’s Hormone Health- a holistic, functional medicine virtual clinic for women of all ages 💗

My mission is to educate women how to find their optimal health. As women, we have a particularly complex web of hormones communicating with each other at a cellular level within our brains, endocrine system (thyroid, insulin, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, cortisol) - or simply, our neuroendocrine system. When any of these systems are out of balance, we experience many unwanted symptoms of

pre or perimenopause: hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, weight gain, irregular or heavy periods, insomnia and irritability- among others. My holistic approach to optimal health includes using the wisdom of Chinese Medicine (herbs, acupuncture, diagnosis) and Functional Medicine (lab testing, evidence based treatments and biochemical based philosophy) which look for the source of your imbalance or disease. Many women do not need hormonal therapy to get back into balance - we can use the wisdom of plant-based herbal therapies that communicate with our endocrine hormones in a natural way that gently brings us back into balance without the often risky side effects of hormone therapy. Using HRT is a personal decision and also sometimes needed for your best health - functional hormone testing is important to see not only your hormone levels but how your body is able to detoxify and keep your levels healthy.

Today we are celebrating women of all ages for their bravery and boldness to empower other women and elevate us all in the process. I have so much gratitude to those who have gone before us- but now more than ever, is the time to unite and make our voices hear.

Sending so much love and admiration for my mother, my grandmother, my incredibly strong daughters and all the amazing women in my life! We are all badasses- let's let our voices be heard!

Sending big love to you on this Valentine weekend!
I wholeheartedly believe love is medicine and love heals your body and mind - but how do we access the power of love?

The answer is simple and necessary- but not always easy- it is to first love and accept yourself, every part of you. To honor and love yourself with every decision you make, with every thought or judgement that you think and the people we allow into our inner circle. True, genuine love flows and grows from gratitude, appreciation and reverence for ourselves and others.

'There is an abundance of love and grace surrounding us if we only open ourselves up to it. It is in loving ourselves and others that we ultimately heal.' Michael McGee, MD - Love Lessons

With so much Love and Gratitude,
ReNee

Have you ever done a walking meditation? It's one of my favorite ways to meditate. Right now, we are all in need of time for ourselves to calm our nervous system and reconnect to who we are and what we want for our lives. The constant chatter in our heads that is often amplified by social media, the news and stories from our past can limit us from becoming our BEST self. We are in need of tools to reconnect to our true selves to become stress resilient in a world of chaos. Become the quiet in the storm for yourself.

Join me this Saturday 10/12 at 7am (PST) for our annual Walk for the World - this is a global network of people who are becoming the change they want to see in the world. Dr. Joe Dispenza, best-selling author, researcher, global speaker and meditation retreat leader, has created Walk for the World to create more peace and love in the chaos that we currently are experienceing. Download the free walking meditation here:
www.walkforthe.world

Please click link in BIO for more information and to register for free- you can join me at Del Mar beach Powerhouse park or find your own group near you.

My mission is always to guide women toward hormone health and conscious wellness - and the first step is to find a mind body practice that resonates with you.

Join us for this walking meditation that may just change the way you see your future self!

With love and gratitude,
ReNee

Just a few things that come to mind when I think about what creates happiness in my life... without listing the obvious - my girls, Max, my clients and all the people I love in my life. There are 5 main Happiness Hormones/Neurohormones:
1. Dopamine- increases with anything that brings pleasure and feelings of reward, but it is important to be mindful of addictions so we stay on the healthy pleasure pathway!
2. Serotonin- important for high vibe mood and positive behavior. Serotonin levels can be increased with regular exercise.
3. Progesterone- is our calming hormone, when we are low we can feel more anxious and have poor sleep. Increase progesterone by lowering intake of sugar, coffee and stress to lower and balance cortisol.
4. Estrogen- healthy levels (not too high/not too low) support our mood and focus. We can support estrogen balance by living a low stress lifestyle and avoiding overexercising, smoking and drinking excessively. It can be very helpful for some women to start bio-identical estrogen/progesterone during menopause to help with anxiety and depression caused by very low levels.
5. Oxytocin- this is the love hormone. When we feel connection and love toward another, our oxytocin levels rise and create good feelings and wellbeing. Laughing, hugs, kisses, gratitude and kindness all increase your love hormone.

So now it's your turn! What does happiness mean to you?

Love & hugs,
ReNee

Amazing research is being done with psychedelics and PTSD, depression and anxiety- what are your thoughts?

Over the past few years, I’ve been fascinated by the bold progress made in psychiatry, particularly with the growth of psychedelic medicine for treating trauma, PTSD, and the stuck amygdala.

M**A (3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) is an empathogen that connects you to others.

M**A is a psychoactive drug that has been shown in multiple randomized trials to have therapeutic effects for PTSD. According to psychiatrist, Dr. Scott Shannon, M**A calms down the amygdala by reducing traumatic fear.

PTSD is a surprisingly common disorder in the United States.

It ranks as one of the most prevalent types of anxiety disorders.

In one study, first responders with PTSD experienced remarkable improvement in symptoms when M**A was paired with psychotherapy. They were given either 30mg, 75mg, or 125mg of M**A along with psychotherapy. After one year, all three groups showed dramatic improvements in their PTSD symptoms, though the greatest benefit of 55% resolution in symptoms was seen at 75 mg (Mithoefer, 2018). More recent randomized trials show 70-80% resolution of PTSD.

👉No other treatment comes close to resetting the default mode network.

Keep in mind that M**A should be given for PTSD as part of a psychotherapeutic relationship with a licensed clinician who is thoroughly trained.

Read more on M**A for trauma therapy in my new book THE AUTOIMMUNE CURE
