🇵🇭 ⛳️🧳🥼⚕️With her life stuffed into two suitcases, fourth-year veterinary student Angela De Villa boarded a plane in Manila, Philippines, and moved more than 6,700 miles away to eastern Washington.

☀️🏝Two weeks from today, and nearly 10 years since she made the move, Angela will walk across the stage at WSU Pullman with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Angela loves the beach, “especially beach sunsets,” and so it is only right that she and her dog, Beaker, are headed to San Diego. Angela recently signed a contract with Grand Animal Hospital, a small animal and exotics general practice in San Diego.

🏌️‍♀️“I spent almost every summer growing up in San Diego competing in golf tournaments, so I’m really excited to be ending up there,” Angela said.

Angela played Division I golf through her undergrad at Gonzaga University and started playing at age 6. “If I wasn’t going to be a veterinarian, I’d be trying to become a professional golfer,” she said. Angela’s steady hand will still be put to good use. She has an interest in soft tissue surgery, neurology, and sports medicine and rehabilitation.

🐕🐈‍⬛“It’s probably one of the most rewarding jobs out there. I have always loved ‘fixing’ things since I was little,” she said. “It’s the absolute best feeling seeing an animal bounce back up after a traumatic injury or chronic illness because you treated them. Also, by helping animals, we help people too.” #GoCougs #WSUVetMed #VeterinaryMedicine #Classof2022
would like to enroll Wesley into an snake aversion training class for this up coming summer time.. do you have any suggestions or recommendations as to who to contact??
At Loki's appointment earlier today, I was talking to Dr. Scoggin about this picture of a family during the Spanish Flu. Not only are they wearing masks, but they made a tiny mask for their kitty too! ❤ I told Dr. Scoggin I would share the photo on your FB page.
Last night I went to bed (and had difficulty sleeping) not knowing if my pet rat Blatty would make it through the night with his respiratory infection.
He did and I went to my appointment this morning. Dr Scoggin and the staff were right on top of things. Blatty got two shots.
Tonight as I lay in bed, I take comfort in knowing he's breathing easier, is eating, and has more energy.

He still has a way to go but I'm far more hopeful now. He wasn't ready to give up so I wasn't. I promised him. To have Dr Scoggin on my team making sure we did everything we could for him lets me relax. Maybe I'll even get to sleep through the night.
Grand Animal Hospital all the way! Today, Dr Scoggin performed complicated surgery on a bunny and he made it! I have been sending many of my adopters to this vet clinic and have yet to receive a negative experience from any of them. Years ago, Dr Scoggin took care of our dog Peshi as well and we have never forgotten her help. We learned back then she would not take advantage of vulnerable, upset, and nervous pet parents. This is hands down the most experienced and affordable vet in town! Thank you to her wonderful staff as well, especially Katie! 💓
Today, 2/25/19, our Princess returned for a follow up appointment. And, I want to say THANK YOU Dr. Behrman, Bridgett, Katie and staff for your loving, compassionate hearts. You are above and beyond my expectations. With #GRATITUDE
Town Hall is now preparing Welcome Kits for new families that are moving into our community.

Our Welcome Kits feature and direct these new families to a small number of local businesses for the goods, services & professionals that they need to find.

Since our Welcome Kits are exclusive, and we can only accommodate one Veterinarian, I would ask you to kindly let me know if you are interested in being the featured Veterinarian in our local Welcome Kits.

It is worthy to note that, according to Dr. Cathy Goodwin in her book “Making the Big Move”, 55% of new residents and families seek out a new Veterinarian shortly after their relocation. As such, more than one-half of our Welcome Kit recipients are actively looking for a new Vet.

I would like to schedule a time when you are expecting me so that I may drop off a sample of our "Welcome Kit" and explain the program in greater detail.

Please reply to this email with your availability or call me at your earliest convenience.

For a faster response, or if you prefer, feel free to text me on my cell which is listed in my signature.

Thanks.

Pets, like people, can experience pain for a variety of reasons. From injuries to arthritis, painful problems detract from animals' quality of life. Could your pet be in pain? Here are a few signs:

⚫ Decreased activity
⚫ Excessively licking or chewing a specific area
⚫ Lethargy
⚫ Unexplained aggression
⚫ Limping
⚫ Difficulty standing up or lying down
⚫ Decreased appetite
⚫ Increased vocalization
⚫ Moving to avoid being touched
⚫ Increased respiratory or heart rate
⚫ Loss of interest in once-loved activities

If your pet has any of these symptoms or you have any other reason to think they could be in pain, please seek prompt veterinary care so your furry family member can enjoy a more comfortable life.

Disaster Preparedness

Since September is National Disaster Preparedness Month, now is a great time to brush up on your knowledge about caring for your pet during an emergency. Check out some tips from the ASPCA at the link below.

Disaster Preparedness Emergencies come in many forms, and they may require anything from a brief absence from your home to permanent evacuation. Each type of disaster requires different measures to keep your pets safe, so the best thing you can do for yourself and your pets is to be prepared.

More people are adopting old, sick dogs to keep them from dying alone and afraid

miamiherald.com A growing number of animal organizations are focusing on adopting out older dogs, or “senior dogs” that are typically 7 years or older. Their age makes them some of the hardest-to-place animals in a society that still adores romping puppies.
