Join the Squad of incredible speakers of Birth of Brilliance in the 2022 theme: Good Trouble is Necessary Trouble✌🏾

🦁Sometimes you have to leave people to their own thoughts when they choose not to hear you. It can be difficult to get people to understand you who are committed to misunderstanding you.

Leave them to the birds🦆- you said your piece. It’s no longer your circus or your monkeys 🤡 Proceed with your peace of mind intact ✌🏾

🦁It’s important to create boundaries for ourselves when we are intentionally stepping into our feelings, especially if they are deep, intense feelings.

Peep game: Find a safe place to feel. Give yourself a time limit to be in your feelings. Set an alarm to remind you to step out of your feelings. To close, step into your coping skills to help get regulated. 5-1 is one of my favs (skillz videos coming soon). Reflect on your release of feelings at a later time, heal, and grow.

Peace to Your Journey✌🏾

🦁Trauma explains behavior but it doesn’t excuse it. It’s important that we examine our phenomenology and how our own traumas have been expressed in the world. Reflect on this and find healthy solutions to help ourselves break away from oppressive cycles; free ourselves, decolonizing the mind, body, and soul. You are not a victim of trauma... you are a resilient survivor of it. We got this; continue to push forward, find your voice, maintain your hope, keep your heads up, and continue pushing for change...it’s coming✊🏾

🦁 Our emotions are reflexes to our interpretation of the world we experience. Learn to respond to your emotions instead of reacting to them. It can be the difference between anger and peace✌🏾

I’ve always had people in some way or another try and write MY story for me. It took me years to learn that it’s my life and I don’t have to let anyone be a co-author on my book (and still working on it today). I realized half the battle is in the stories we continue to tell and pass down, generation to generation. I am proud to have been selected to be a speaker at the 2nd Annual Diversity in Parenting Conference and have the opportunity to teach people how to take back the pen. To stop allowing the dominant society dictate what we are allowed, worth, capable of, etc. Get your tickets before it’s too late!

“God has always given me the strength to say what is right”
-Rosa Parks

🦁Every day I work with youths and families I remember my why. I remember that I needed services and no one asked/offered/provided them to me when I really could have benefited. So when I step into a room where people of power and privilege are making decisions for these kids that continue to oppress and traumatize them, I channel my inner Parks and say “Nah” and inner Turner, “Not today”! ✊🏾
Don’t get it twisted...silence is agreement...

Shoutout to anyone who has ever advocated for those of us who have been marginalized ✌🏾
