Medications for anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder act directly on neurotransmitters in the brain to enhance them. They do not address the question, why isn’t the body creating enough neurotransmitters to keep the brain happy in the first place? What is out of balance that needs to be addressed in order for the body to return to homeostasis and function properly? The good thing about mental health is that you can do some really simple things like take digestive bitters before meals and eat good quality animal proteins to really see a difference in your brain chemistry. The best part? No side effects! I would never judge anyone for taking medication—my goal here is to educate you to empower you to feel more in control of your mental health.
