Our Story
The Eff Cancer Movement started off as a 20 shirt surprise by my friend Rachel to help me raise money for medical bills. In just a few months, we had sold over 400 shirts, and it has continued to grow since then! Now the brand had changed ownership and is in memorial of my sisters mother-in-law who passed away last September.
Dawn was known and loved by many and was active in our community for many years. In April of 2016 we found out Dawn had breast cancer and even with the potential of a grim outcome she took everything in stride. She endured multiple surgeries, chemo, and radiation all while continuing to be a mother, wife, and role model to many. After months of treatment there seemed to be hope and for a year and a half everyone thought we had it beat. Unfortunately in June of 2018, we discovered the cancer had returned, metastasized, and we had limited time left. Despite running on borrowed time, Dawn continued to fight alongside her friends and family and spent every second she could with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Unfortunately Dawn was taken from us too soon just 4 months later on September 03, 2018. Before passing away, she instilled in us that she wished to restart the EFF Cancer Movement after a family friend was no longer able to continue it. Dawn lived for her family and friends and wanted nothing more than to raise awareness and hope for a cure in whatever way she could. As we grow larger, I would love to create a scholarship in Dawn’s name that is given out to a high school senior each year. As a young adult who lost her mother, I understand how hard paying for schooling especially when the medical bills are piling up. Taking that stress off a promising future college students parents would be minor relief especially when facing such an enormous fight like cancer.
Please join me in helping her dream come true and spreading awareness for all different types of cancer! When you wear you shirt, use #effcancermovement on Facebook and Instagram so we can find you! www.effcancermovement.com
