Practicing Courage is a Facebook arena for people interested in The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™ based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown.
Practicing Courage is the page to my private practice as a psychologist. I work with individual adults seeking self improvement and addressing specific issues and/or patterns in their lives. I am trained and certified in Brené Brown's curricula The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™. I work with the principle's from programs a lot and offer workshops, seminars, and ongoing support groups. For those of you who are my clients, you know I use this word A LOT! 😊
T- 5 days until Braving The Wilderness hits the shelves!
Every page of this book challenged me in unexpected ways. At some point my editor Ben laughed and said, “Maybe we should call it ‘How to piss off everyone in 150 pages.’”
I laughed. Kinda.
Braving The Wilderness is a call to courage.
A call to move closer to each other, because people are hard to hate close up.
A call to speak truth to bullsh*t. But be civil.
And to hold hands. With strangers.
While we are still in major heartbreak here in Houston, I’ve been so blown away by the kindness of strangers.
There’s a section in the new book that talks about “A Ministry of Presence” - it so perfectly describes what we’re seeing here right now.
Read that excerpt and check out the new brenebrown.com here: http://brenebrown.com/blog/2017/09/07/braving-the-wilderness-excerpt/
Also, I’m taking off for a crazy book tour next week (cue Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again). Pre-order on Amazon and join us for Q&As from the road: http://amzn.to/2vCf6Rw. If you order now, it normally delivers the next day!
brenebrown.com Our revolution is a small, quiet, grassroots movement that starts with each of us saying, “My story matters because I matter.” A movement where we can take to the streets with our messy, imperfect, wild, stretch-marked, wonderful, heartbreaking, grace-filled, and joyful lives. A movement fueled by t...
I see London. I see France. Y’all have kicked ass on the underpants.
It’s been three days since I reached out and asked for help getting underwear to the hurricane victims. We’re going to give you a full report next week but here’s what I want you to know right this minute:
This morning 20,000 pairs of underwear were dropped off at NRG where BakerRipley is housing thousands of evacuees.
This first picture is Amy Weiss who is the executive director of Undies for Everyone. Just so you know, her house had over four feet of water in it. Her shirt says it all: Spread Good.
The very handsome guys doing the delivery today are Steve (my husband) and Frankie (my brother-in-law).
They said the volunteers actually cheered when they showed up with the underwear. There is no laundry and people are desperate to be clean and feel clean!
Full report on your donations and how we’re spreading your underwear LOVE all the way down to South Texas on Wednesday.
As for me and my family, we made it through without any house damage. Now we’re knee-deep in underwear and I’m getting ready to launch the new book. After a 30 hour nap.
For now, just know that we’re SO deeply grateful.
Thanks to Leigh Standley for the great sketch and Ted Barrall for helping deliver and taking pics!
Let's talk underwear! #realtalk #Harvey
Here are three ways to give NEW (still in package) underwear. Please keep in mind that we need a variety of sizes for men, women, boys, and girls, including XXL.
2. Collect new, packaged underwear and mail it to the address below. It’s our local Hillel and they are collecting for us. This is a really great neighborhood or school project. If you’re purchasing, we recommend Hanes or Fruit of the Loom. UFE doesn’t process or give out anything but underwear!

This quote blows me away with its power and it's truth!
We need to keep talking about Charlottesville.
We need to keep talking about Charlottesville.
People are often surprised to hear Brené say that joy is the most terrifying emotion to experience. We try to beat vulnerability to the punch by not softening into joy so it can't be taken away. But when bad stuff happens, it doesn't hurt any less if we've avoided feeling joy deeply.

You’ve been asking and it’s finally that time. Daring Greatly and Rising Strong e-courses are back and live right now on COURAGEworks!
Last year, many of you showed up in these courses when we launched the COURAGEworks platform. Y’all said, “More art!” and "Smaller chunks." We said, “Heck yes!” and added art journaling, then split the original course into two parts.
Daring Greatly and Rising Strong are the foundation for living a brave life. We dare greatly when we develop the courage to be vulnerable. And when we’re brave enough often enough, we fall. We rise strong when we choose to engage our emotions, own our stories of struggle, and write our own endings.
When we do it together, we make the world a braver place.
I hope you’ll join us. If you’re already enrolled, see you in class!
