Jesse Wayne I’ve been missing you for years, how am I supposed to make the next few decades? I waited so long for a brother like you and now you’re gone.

I hope you and Amy are doing art, singing and watching all the best movies.

I love you more than I ever said out loud and I’ll regret that until my last day.

My big sister Amy left this world way too soon on September 11, 2024.

I can’t quite explain how deep our our bond was and it feels foolish to try over a social media post. She was my favorite person on this planet, even on the days she wasn’t. She was my voice, my teacher, my protector.

My heart will never be the same.

If you’d like to show support or get to know the amazing woman she was I’m making a webpage dedicated to her: AlwaysMissingYou.Life

If you’re looking for ways to help us through this time, I’m happy to take it. We need it and I don’t know how to ask.

Amy’s Memorial service can be attended online via livestream on YouTube Sunday Sept 29 2024 10am PST

It was a running joke in my family, that I was not from this planet and would eventually be going back to my alien family.
These days I’m taking the joke seriously.
I am a wonder of the world.
A giant mystery that when people see me completely built, they’re convinced I am not made from the tools of men.
I am a tomb of treasures and b***y traps.

Im not a particularly religious person, but the start or lent is a holy time.

This time of year REALLY means the start of crawfish season and my soul starts to cry out for that newspaper lined church, with the choir of cracking, sucking and sharp inhaling.

This time of year means history and warm skin and bad habits.

This time of year means rain and reminders that both things can be true. You can miss a thing but also be glad it’s gone. You can be brave but still be terrified. You can be a success and also feel like a failure.

We only get to see the light half of every full moon, but that doesn’t make the dark side any less real. It just all depends on where we focus the sunlight.

I love when this pose comes up in a class, because you get the bodies that rest entirely on the front leg to catch a breath and a break, or the “challengers” who lift, squeeze, push until the sweat is dripping down the armpit.

Dude…if you need a break just take one! Be strong when you can. No one said this had to be painful.

I went straight from injury to illness, so clearly life is trying to teach me something. Take care of yourselves, whatever that looks like today.

I learned about tension headaches from my mother, when she would lay in the quiet dark for hours until they went away. Soon followed by my own tension, as my shoulders got intimate with my earlobes. Then found tension could be shared between others, when I felt the air flex and conversation stop.

It’s such a funny thing, tension. A few moments of uncomfortable pressure and the laugh is that much bigger, the s*x that much better, the sigh of relief melts you more. Or accurately placed tautness and you feel supported and strong.

If you’re feeling the tension, try looking at it from a different angle. Use it to get you somewhere or just remember a big laugh might be hiding in the next breath.

When a child learns to walk, it does so by mirroring the movement of the people around them. It learns to move in the same way as bodies that are carrying their own injuries, trauma, strengths and stories; as well as the ones picked up from the bodies that showed them what it means to be vertical.

What if you tried learning how to walk now? What if you paid attention to what your big toe feels like every time you took a step and who was moving you forward?

Sorry kid, but you’re already doing yoga all the time. Sometimes it’s just on a mattress.

I’ve had a wrist injury I’ve been nursing for the last two months I’m ashamed to admit locked me in frustration and immobilized me. A sprain…no broken bones, no lost limbs, just sporadic pain with specific movements. “Blinding pain” as in, I offered no support, no modifications, just couldn’t see past making the injury worse or doing nothing at all.

However, I was forced to move vicariously through my students and be incredibly precise with my words. I grew so much greater than if I would have continued within my comfort zone. I recognized what kind of caregiver I was being for myself and became more nurturing.

Since the movement is slowly returning, I’m working my way through B.K.S Iyengar’s Light on Yoga.

(1) Tadasana: As much of a pose as any other and it’s so funny how much your inner critic has to say about simply standing up for yourself.
