There have been some big advances in how we understand fear, trauma and memory in recent years. I think that the idea of reconsolidating memories that is discussed in this article is part of what makes EMDR work for phobias and trauma. And I understand that the idea of actually changing our memories can be both delightful and spooky, depending on the context (e.g. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). What do you think?
