Fueling Communities: 30 Days of Action

Access to food is one of the most fundamental drivers of health and well-being — yet millions of families across the United States continue to experience food insecurity every day.

This month, Life Science Cares, Inc. is mobilizing our Network of Good through Fueling Communities: 30 Days of Action — a nationwide volunteer activation focused on hunger relief, food access, and healthier communities.

Sign up to build snack packs for youth this summer. Health doesn’t start in the doctor’s office. It starts in our schools, homes, and neighborhoods.

👉 Join us this June and help turn access to food into access to health.

Children and seniors are among those most heavily impacted by food insecurity.

For many children, access to nutritious snacks and meals is essential for learning, development, and overall well-being. For older adults, food insecurity can lead to increased health challenges, isolation, and difficult choices between food, medication, and other basic needs.

This June, as part of Life Science Cares' Food is Health: Fueling Communities – 30 Days of Action, we're inviting companies and volunteers to help make a difference through Snack Pack Builds.

📦 Assemble snack packs that support:

Students participating in summer and after-school programs

Youth-serving organizations across the Bay Area

Seniors and community members experiencing food insecurity

Snack packs may seem small, but they provide nourishment, comfort, and support when it matters most.

Whether you're looking for a meaningful team volunteer activity or a way to give back individually, Snack Pack Builds are a hands-on opportunity to strengthen healthier communities and support our nonprofit partners.

🌿 Sponsor a build
🌿 Assemble packs with your team
🌿 Help fuel learning, health, and well-being

Together, we can turn access to food into access to health.

Emergency food assistance is crucial for many families.
Nearly 48 million people across the United States experience food insecurity, including 1 in 5 children. Access to nutritious food is one of the most fundamental drivers of health, well-being, and opportunity.

This June, Life Science Cares Bay Area is mobilizing companies and volunteers through our Food is Health: Fueling Communities – 30 Days of Action campaign to support nonprofit organizations addressing hunger and food insecurity across our communities.

One of the easiest and most impactful ways to get involved is by hosting a food drive.

🏢 Organize an in-office collection
💻 Launch a virtual food drive for remote employees
🤝 Create a hybrid campaign that engages your entire team

Every donation helps provide critical food resources to families while supporting local nonprofit partners working on the front lines of food insecurity.

Together, we can help ensure that more families have access to the food they need to thrive.

Project Onramp is officially underway in the Bay Area, and we are excited to welcome our Summer 2026 cohort as they begin their journey into the life sciences industry!

This week, we brought together our interns and an incredible group of 20 volunteer mentors from across the Bay Area life sciences community for our Mentor-Mentee Pairing event. These professionals are investing their time, expertise, and personal experiences to help guide the next generation of talent.

For many Project Onramp interns, this mentorship experience is just as impactful as the internship itself. Early-career professionals often benefit tremendously from having someone in their corner who can answer questions, provide encouragement, and help them better understand the many pathways available within the life sciences industry. These relationships build confidence, strengthen professional skills, and create lasting connections that can influence future educational and career decisions.

At Life Science Cares, we believe talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. Through Project Onramp, we are helping bridge that gap by connecting students with meaningful paid internships, industry exposure, professional development, and mentors who are committed to their success.

A heartfelt thank you to our mentors for choosing to invest in the future workforce. Together, we're not just creating internships—we're building careers, expanding networks, and strengthening the future of the life sciences community.

Thank you to the BioMarin Pharmaceutical APIC team for partnering with Life Science Cares Bay Area in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month and our Food is Health activation. Their team spent the afternoon assembling 250 goody bags in support of APA Family Support Services! 💙

Filled with snacks, creative activities, comfort items, and personalized touches like STEM buttons and handwritten tags, these bags will bring moments of joy, encouragement, and care to children and youth across our community.

This engagement also supported our broader Food is Health initiative, which mobilizes volunteers and corporate partners to help address food insecurity and expand access to essential resources across the Bay Area.

We’re grateful for BioMarin’s continued partnership and commitment to supporting Bay Area youth and families through meaningful community engagement.

Grateful for a powerful day of service and impact 💙

A huge thank you to Terns Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc. (Rahway, NJ USA), for partnering with us to support the incredible work of There With Care. Together, your team showed what it truly means to care actively.

In just one day, the team:
✨ Assembled 100 full-size family toiletry bags—essential items that bring comfort, dignity, and relief to families navigating unimaginable circumstances
✨ Bundled 120+ baby clothing sets, each thoughtfully crafted with three outfits per child to ensure even the youngest family members have what they need

For families facing a child’s life-threatening medical diagnosis, the ripple effects are immense. There With Care works hand-in-hand with hospitals and social workers to ease that burden—providing critical, day-to-day essentials so families can focus on what matters most: their child.

Moments like these remind us of the power of community and what’s possible when an industry comes together to give back.

If you’re inspired to help bring comfort and care to families in need-reach out to us to learn how you can get involved.
