A huge thank you to the Cytokinetics team for partnering with Life Science Cares Bay Area to support two incredible nonprofit partners.

During their recent volunteer event, Cytokinetics employees assembled 600 Balloon Race Car STEM kits that will be distributed to youth through PIEFEST’s upcoming Pasifika STEAM Fest, where students will participate in hands-on STEM activities and explore science in a fun, interactive way.

The team also assembled 84 New Parent Kits for families served by HealthRIGHT 360, providing essential items to help welcome new babies and support parents during an important moment in their families’ lives.

Thank you, Cytokinetics, for supporting students and families across our community.

In recognition of Women’s History Month, the Exelixis team partnered with Life Science Cares Bay Area to assemble more than 200 feminine care hygiene kits for Safe Passages.

These kits will be distributed through Safe Passages’ Family Resource Center in Oakland to women and families across Alameda County. As Safe Passages shared with the Exelixis team, access to these everyday essentials helps ensure women can show up confident and prepared as they navigate school, work, and daily responsibilities.

We're thrilled to announce the launch of the Life Science Cares Bay Area Leadership Circle — and we're celebrating with an evening you won't want to miss.

On Thursday, April 16th, join us at a LSC supporter’s home in Hillsborough for an intimate House Salon bringing together life science leaders, community advocates, and people who believe our industry can — and should — do more for the Bay Area.

Here's what to expect:

🎤 San Mateo County CEO Mike Callagy will speak on the local landscape and new workforce initiatives designed to expand the talent pipeline for recent graduates and life science companies alike.

💡 A powerful Mission Moment featuring a Project Onramp alumni, and the CPO of her host company — sharing firsthand how LSC's internship program is opening doors and changing career trajectories.

🤝 An opportunity to connect with LSC Board leadership and learn more about getting involved with the LSC-BA Leadership Circle.

This is an evening for people who want to put their networks and resources behind something meaningful — workforce equity, economic opportunity, and the communities right in our backyard.

Space is limited. Email [kaitlin.chandler@lifesciencecares.org] to RSVP and learn more.

This past week we had the opportunity lean into STEM not once but twice, to support young minds and help them develop a lifelong curiosity for STEM and to help expose them to technical careers in Science..=

On Monday in partnership with the San Mateo County Office of Education and with Bay Area K-16, we exposed students from local public high schools to healthcare careers in technical fields. Students learned about Biotech from a seasoned executive on our board of advisors, Barbara Troupin, heard from a nurse about Health Equity, and got to experiment with EMT equipment. How cool is that! We are proud that 100% of attendees reported that they left the day more interested in pursuing a career in Health, Medicine or Biotech! Thank you to all the sponsors of this initiative

On Thursday, we attended a STEM fair by our partner Avante Science, at Adelante Selby Spanish Immersion school. Elementary school students, from 2nd to 5th grade had an opportunity to showcase Science Projects be evaluated by high school students and be awarded a medal of achievement. Early exposure is critical to develop a love for science, and we are so excited and impressed by the work of Avante Science and our own board of advisors member Anuj Gaggar!

More to come from Life Science Cares Bay Area on STEM, a continued important priority for us in 2026 and beyond.

We’re looking for volunteers who can lead a hands-on activity or demonstration and share a bit about their path into STEM. It’s a great opportunity to introduce students to different fields and help them see what a future in STEM could look like.
