Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is an 8-week course that was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts. The course is offered here in San Francisco by a number of instructors in various settings and at more than 600 institutions worldwide. Jon Kabat-Zinn defines mindfulness as “paying attention, on purpose, from moment to moment, with non-judging awareness."

So we practiced noticing what's going well for us, what Thich Nhat Hanh calls the non-toothache, or what doesn’t suck as my dear friend Karen would say. Are you creating your own happiness? I'd love to hear how. Happiness is always available in the present moment, if we only remember. Thich Nhat Hanh teaches us to dwell happily in the present moment. I've found, that if I remember to look for it, there is always something to be happy for!
