New Kaiser Permanente study also identifies survival differences among Asian American ethnic groups, highlighting the importance of looking at variations within this community.

In the late 90's when the Chinatown Community Health Fair started up, approximately 24% of the attendees were uninsured. After passage of the Affordable Care Act/ Obamacare, that percentage was reduced to fewer than 7% in recent years. Now, under the Trump administration's Draconian health care policies, the rate of participants is anticipated to reach double-digits again

"States are paying contractors such as Deloitte, Accenture, and Optum millions of dollars to help them comply with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — a law that will strip safety-net health and food benefits from millions."

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act will add red tape and restrictions for those seeking Medicaid and SNAP benefits. And the costs to update computer systems that determine eligibility for those programs will be steep.

Costs keep many Americans, even those with insurance, from getting dental care. Understanding how dental insurance works and leaning into preventive care can help keep dental problems — and bills — manageable.

"Not only does that put their physical health at risk, said patient advocates, doctors, and health policy researchers, but it potentially just shifts the costs — and could lead to taxpayers’ footing even bigger bills to fix health issues that worsen amid the delays."

Adults ages 50 through 64 faced some of the steepest increases in out-of-pocket costs for Obamacare plans after a set of federal subsidies expired at the end of December. Some say they are putting off care or considering dropping health insurance coverage until Medicare picks up the bill.
