How To Find Your Ikigai And Transform Your Outlook On Life And Business

A great article on the Japanese concept of Ikigai. An interesting framework for what men in group therapy are looking for, as well.

forbes.com Ikigai is a Japanese concept that translates to "reason for being." Here's how I found mine, and what it meant for my life as an entrepreneur.

Hello Community,

I have a few openings in my Men's Intimacy Process Group which meets on Thursday nights. This long-term, psychodynamic group can be a powerful therapeutic adjunct to individual therapy with your clients. Process groups create a powerful "here-and-now" experience of relational dynamics. I am open, and encourage, an ongoing relationship between individual and group therapist, so let me know if you'd like to explore how group therapy might fit.

Group details below:

PROBLEM: Over half the men in the US were taught men should figure out their personal problems on their own without asking others for help.*

SOLUTION: This group explores how men relate to anger, conflict, intimacy, healthy dependency, and s*x (to name a few.) In doing so, men find they have more confidence, resilience, and awareness to pursue meaningful connection and change in their lives. This is a long-term group for men seeking connection with others and themselves.

Self-defeating behaviors and beliefs can get in the way of achieving relationships, intimacy, meaningful s*x, and connection.

Often these behaviors show up as using apps instead of connecting, p**n, compulsive s*xual behavior, serial dating, or serial "not dating." Maybe you just feel lonely even though you "have everything" (according to those around you!)

Led by a trained, experienced group leader, the process provides a unique, dynamic, and sometimes challenging opportunity to explore who you are and how others see you.

A 1:1 consultation is required so that we can clarify the work you wish to address in the group and how it might be supported by the group. There are no drop-ins.

Open to men of any s*xual orientation.

My number and confidential voicemail is (415) 547-0301. Email: [email protected]

Warmly,

[11/29/17]   I am a San Francisco Psychotherapist who focuses on Men's Issues, including relationships, intimacy, and s*xuality. Much of that work focuses on s*x addiction therapy in San Francisco. I am a s*x positive therapist, meaning I believe that s*x, whether alone or partnered, can be a healthy expression of your innate desire to connect, enjoy, have fun, and celebrate who you are. I also recognize the worry, consequences, and suffering when your relationship to s*x and relationships is no longer in sync with who you want to be or become.

Therapy for Men

I am a San Francisco Psychotherapist who focuses on Men's Individual and Group therapy. Often the work focuses on relationship and intimacy issues. While avoiding labels (many of which foreclose on curiosity and discovery) sometimes patients identify as “s*xually addictive” or “compulsive.” They might describe the feeling as “out of control.”

I am a s*x positive therapist, meaning I believe that s*x, whether alone or partnered, can be a healthy expression of your innate desire to connect, enjoy, have fun, and celebrate who you are. Whether in a relationship or single, trouble connecting with others is distressing. I also recognize the anxiety, consequences, and suffering when your relationship to p**n, apps, and s*xual behaviors is no longer in sync with who you want to be or become. I can provide tools to create positive change.
