Greenlight Clinic turned 5 years old yesterday!

When we think back to when we first opened the door to the first client, it’s so amazing to think how far we have come and how many young people we have supported. It truly has been a gift to so many.

Black lives have always mattered. ⁣
Way before we were considered 3/5ths of them, ⁣
singing negro spirituals on their plantations. ⁣

We are the seeds, ⁣
Our ancestors planted around this nation. ⁣
And ⁣
You hate us. ⁣
You hate what you see in us ⁣
that’s NOT in you. ⁣

You hate that you need us to prosper too. ⁣
Your hate is a sign of fear ⁣
and you fear 400 plus years of retaliation ⁣

Let’s be real. ⁣
Equality now doesn’t fix ⁣
oppression for 400 plus years. ⁣

400 plus years ⁣
of walking on ⁣
eggshells to “live” ⁣

400 plus years ⁣
of violence and misery ⁣
inflicted on generations ⁣
on top of generations ⁣

400 plus years ⁣
of unhealed trauma passed ⁣
on⁣

400 plus years ⁣
of being hated for something ⁣
we can’t control ⁣

400 plus years ⁣
of working for a seat at ⁣
your imaginary table ⁣

400 plus years ⁣
of no true ownership ⁣
over our creations ⁣

400 plus years ⁣
of decoding new systems ⁣
you’ve implemented to enslave us ⁣

And after 400 plus years ⁣
slave catchers are ⁣
now “officers of the law”. ⁣

The plantations transition to prison yards. ⁣
The systems you ⁣
design to enslave us all, ⁣
will dismantle before we conform. ⁣

Title: 400 Plus Years by Marcus Ryan ⁣

A pass of the baton. ⁣

Ask yourself ⁣
Is this a movement or moment? ⁣
With organization, we will rise
