We are thrilled to celebrate that Dr. Lata K. McGinn, President of the World Confederation of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (WCCBT)— has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies. Dr. McGinn is also a tenured Professor of Psychology at Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and Co-Founder of Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants (CBC).

This award recognizes her extraordinary global scientific contributions, her outstanding and enduring impact in advancing pioneering research, training, and access to evidence‑based mental health care, and her decades of leadership in local, regional, and global dissemination and mental‑health capacity building.

The WCCBT is excited to announce that Professor Ross G. Menzies, from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), has been appointed President-Elect of the Confederation. Dr Menzies has an international reputation in a range of areas including OCD, fears and phobias, death and existential issues, stuttering, eTherapy and the development of automated, scalable treatment programs. In addition to his large clinical load, Ross has published 11 books, and more than 200 chapters and journal papers in a long and distinguished career. He’s received continuous research funding from national competitive sources for more than three decades. Dr Menzies has won many prestigious awards, most recently the Williams James Book Award from the American Psychological Association. His term as President of the WCCBT will run from 2026 to 2029.

Prof. Menzies is the current Treasurer of the WCCBT. He is a long time member of the Board and Executive Committee of our association, having served as the Australian representative since the foundation of the confederation. The three-time President of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy (AACBT), he was the Convenor and President of the 8th World Congress of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapy in Melbourne, 2016. Dr Menzies’ term as President of the WCCBT will begin at the close of the 11th World Congress in San Francisco in June next year.

A leading voice in the field of cognitive and behavioral therapies, Dr. McGinn blends academic rigor, clinical expertise, and global leadership to shape the future of evidence-based care. As a Founding Fellow, Diplomate, and Past President of the Academy, she has made a lasting impact on how CBT is practiced, taught, and accessed around the world.

She is the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants (CBC), a clinical and training center dedicated to evidence-based care, and a Professor of Psychology at Yeshiva University, where she directs the CBT Training Program for Anxiety, OCD, Trauma, and Depression.

In addition to her clinical and academic work, Dr. McGinn plays a vital role in global mental health advocacy. As President of the World Confederation of CBT, she partners with organizations—including the World Health Organization—to expand access to evidence-based treatment. She also co-founded the Access Psychology Foundation, which provides support and training for underserved communities.
