Breathe in….breathe out…repeat.

I cannot emphasize the importance of breathing properly and paying attention to your breath, especially during stressful times or when you are in pain.

When that happens, we tend to revert to shallow breathing.

Try to close your eyes, inhale deeply through your nose, guide your breath to your lower abdomen and back, and then let it out gently yet fully.
It will calm your nerves and mind and better oxygenate your organs.

Try one of these natural ways to reduce gas and bloating.

Add a pinch of any of these to boiling water. Let steep for 10mins. Strain. You can add honey and or a squeeze of lemon 🍋. Sip and enjoy.

As with everything else in Traditional Chinese Medicine, things are interdependent and can co-exist with one another. The same goes for our minds, emotions and attitude. We can have strengths and weaknesses. It’s the yin/yang balance…

Seasonal affective disorder “SAD” is real and affects people in different ways.

Some of the most common symptoms are feeling blue😰, a sense of hopelessness, lethargy, irritability 🤬, problems with your sleeping 🛌 patterns or changes in your appetite (less appetite, more carbs and sugar).

Sesonal depression is thought to be associated to changes in our melatonin and serotonin levels.

So what can you do about it?

* stick to a regular sleep schedule.

* limit caffeine and alcohol intake

* use light therapy or make sure to have bright lights indoors or get outside in the mornings if your location and weather permits it.

*see a therapist

Everything we eat and put into or onto our bodies matters in the long run. Choose wisely but remember that we are only human and can’t be ‘perfect’ all the time. So be kind to yourself when you go ‘off track’.

I cannot stress the importance of proper hydration 💦💧, especially if you are active, you are an athlete, living in warm weather or going through some changes such as menopause.

Our body is very clever and will use whatever fluids it can find in the body to protect our internal organs such as our heart, lungs, liver etc…and pull moisture from tendons, ligaments and muscles if it doesn’t get enough from you. And that’s when things get dry, brittle and snap. 🚨🚨

If you are feeling any of the above symptoms, take a look at how much you actually hydrate throughout the day and up your water 💦 intake!

I am sure that I am not alone in ‘conserving’ my energy these days. Post COVID, it seems that less is more: less running around, fewer social engagements, picking who I want to spend time with and how & working more effectively to name a few.
Trying to preserve my adrenals in the process.

Everything in life is about BALANCE, interdependence and interaction- Yin and Yang.

Opposite and contrary forces are actually complementary and one cannot exist without the other. Light and dark, fire and water, warm and cold, daytime and nighttime to name a few.

Shadows wouldn’t exist without light, we wouldn’t know what joy is without sadness. The concept of duality is fascinating and can be applied to the smallest things.

I love the philosophy behind all of it.

Walter Cronkite, ‘The most trusted man in America’ was onto something years ago when he half kiddingly made this remark…
And here we are…years later…still struggling to have a better healthcare system for everyone.

While Obamacare and ACA made great strides to make it more accessible, I am still appalled at the monthly premiums we have to pay. Ugh…

Our bodies uses minerals for many different jobs, including keeping our bones, muscles, heart, and brain working properly.

They are also important for producing hormones and enzymes.

There are two kinds of minerals: macrominerals and trace minerals.

You need ‘larger’ amounts of macrominerals and those include: sulfur, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, chloride.

You only need ‘small’ amounts of trace minerals. They include: iron, zinc, fluoride, manganese, copper, iodine, cobalt, and selenium.

Most people get the amount of minerals they need by eating a wide variety of foods.
In some cases, your healthcare practitioner may recommend a mineral supplement.
