The stereotype around being lazy often ignores deeper struggles like burnout, anxiety, depression, or executive dysfunction. Society tends to equate productivity with worth, making rest or slowness seem like a personal failing rather than a sign that something deeper might be going on.

Many people labeled as “lazy” are actually overwhelmed, afraid of failure, lacking direction, or emotionally drained. Instead of asking, “Why am I so lazy?” a more helpful question might be, “What’s making this so hard for me?”

Lately, l’ve heard so many people-including myself-say that communication doesn’t come naturally. In a culture that isn’t emotion-forward, it makes sense that so many of us struggle to express ourselves.

We’re realizing just how much goes unsaid in relationships, assuming others just know what we’re thinking. But when we don’t fully understand our own emotions and needs, how can we communicate them to others?

Even a simple phrase like, I’m still making sense of this, can you give me some time?’ can create space for better communication.
