Dr. Congdon, here's a great article on Covid 19!
Hi Dr. Congdon. I understand you are doing a research study with your patients. Are there any updates to this endeavour?

(Just got challenged with "Are there any double blind placebo-controlled studies?" and I'm aware that there aren't, but a bit tired of getting slapped in the face with that, haha, when I talk about the protocol.)
All the way from Ecuador. So thankful for all the guidance and specially for treating fybro.
Hi melissa I’m paula from the uk, is there anyone in london a specialised on fibromyalgia you would recommend please as u are in America x. X

Hola necesito por favor de su ayuda hace un mes que me detectaron Fibromialgia estoy muy mal, soy de Chile escuche sobre guaifenesin Protoco, como lo hago para poder hacer este tratamiento.
Dr Congdon Thank you for the documentary on YouTube. I saw it Wed of last week. Ordered Dr St Amand's book on Thur and it came in on Sat. I am about a 1/4 of the way through the book now.

My VA P*P has made feel like I am crazy. I have been complaining about pain and swelling in my arm pits. She would say it's not glads nothing there. Now I know what it is.

Is there any Doctor's in Georgia or the Southeast that practice as you and Dr St Amand? I am going to begin cutting out the things I need to and start the guai protocol once I finish the book.

Again Thank You for pointing me in a new direction.

Thanks
Dave Young

Why Is Perimenopause Still Such a Mystery?

These symptoms are common and can be severe! I advise my fibromyalgia patients going through perimenopause to find a healthcare provider who understands this condition and can recommend a variety of treatments tailored to the patient.

Why Is Perimenopause Still Such a Mystery? Over 1 billion women around the world will have experienced perimenopause by 2025. But a culture that has spent years dismissing the process might explain why we don’t know more about it.

Fibromyalgia Linked to Hypersensitivity to Heat and Auditory Stimuli - Clinical Pain Advisor

The results of this study showed that people with FM not only have increased sensitivity to pain, but also to increased heat and sound. Seems like a "no brainer" to all of us with FM, but it is important to get more basic research done on this condition!

The Functional Medicine Approach To Hypothyroidism And Hashimoto’s Disease

What a powerful podcast episode! If you have fibromyalgia, you have an increased risk of developing low thyroid function, especially as you age. I developed hypothyroidism, and many of my patients have as well. Many times I have to FIGHT to get their P*Ps to understand how to properly screen and treat hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. As more of us become educated we can educate our providers. Yes, I know it should be the other way around, but accepted practices in medicine are slow to change.

Study Finds ‘Evidence Lacking’ for Most Fibromyalgia Treatments — Pain News Network

The study results "reflect what many fibromyalgia sufferers already know; many treatments are ineffective in improving their symptoms." So true! Many people are suffering! Wound up, Overheated and Tweaked: A Look at the Fibromyalgia Brain and Nervous System. - Health Rising

So much good information here! Scroll down to "The Gist" for the summary. There is so much scientific evidence that fibromyalgia is a real condition that Cort Johnson ends with saying, " with so many validated issues in just the brain and nervous system's of FM patients it seems incredible that any doctor worth his or her salt could dismiss this disease." Let's continue to educate our providers!

Fibromyalgia studies suggests that just about part of the pain production system has gone awry in the disease. From neurotransmitters, to twitchy small nerves, to broken gating mechanisms, to burgeoning pain centers of the brain, problems abound.

How Exercise May Bolster the Brain

Wow! When they injected the compound GPDLD1 into older mice, these researchers found the old mice "performed almost like young mice on tests of learning and memory. It sure would be nice for older people with fibromyalgia who can't exercise due to pain to get the benefits of exercise....

Could taking LDN decrease COVID-19's cytokine storm? Dr. Younger wants to find out. Please keep us posted!

I wanted to thank everyone for sending emails about their experiences with COVID-19 and low-dose naltrexone. I received hundreds of responses and I really appreciate the respondents and those who forwarded the request. I'm still going through the responses. I don't know that I can come up with an overall story, but I'm trying to pick out the major themes. Naltrexone is one pharmaceutical being studied for management of COVID-19 symptoms. The idea is it may reduce the out-of-control inflammation that can accompany the infection -- similar to how steroids are being used to help COVID-19 patients, but with fewer side-effects. There is not yet any data available suggesting LDN can be helpful in this way. There is a clinical trial currently ongoing at another institution, and I hope we receive news from that team soon. Thanks again! - Jarred Younger

We love research on fibromyalgia! Thank you Dr. Younger!

Our fibromyalgia endotoxin neuroimaging project is full steam ahead!

We are running an all-day session today examining if fibromyalgia (FM) involves an abnormal brain inflammatory response to low-level triggers. I've mixed the endotoxin today, which tricks the body into thinking there is a small infection. We administer the endotoxin via intravenous infusion, and then measure the brain's response with our MRI neuroinflammation scan to see if there are differences between people with and without FM. This study was funded by the American Fibromyalgia Syndrome Association (AFSA). We are running 16 session days total - 1 per week for the next several weeks. We hope this will provide additional insight into the mechanisms that cause FM pain and fatigue. - Jarred Younger
