Holidays aside, Autumn and Winter's shorter daylight hours and cooler weather lend themselves to more inward looking days. I know it probably reads a little funny, but that introspection doesn't have to be done in isolation. Having a companion during self-exploration keeps us rooted so we don't get carried away. Sharing the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that preoccupy us makes it easier to shed the ones we no longer need

As always, whether it's a one-off or a series of sessions, I appreciate being part of that process of speaking what needs to be spoken

Undefined, hidden... what is unspoken can haunt us, controlling us. Spoken, it is brought into the world, where we can properly address it and no longer be bound by it. The process can be halting, awkward and difficult — but also worth it.

It's an honour to hear clients articulate what was unspoken. I always appreciate when I get to be part of that process.

Ongoing therapy is legit. And, sometimes a single session is all you need to sort something out.

Single Session Therapy is a good fit to decompress about a recent event, receive guidance with a specific issue, or to get a feel for therapy.

Especially while the world seems so cray and so many are reporting feeling isolated, I hope people know therapy doesn't have to be 'forever.' You can book a session just because you need someone to talk with right now. A single session won't solve everything, but it can help you with something :)

I've been watching talks that are part of a 10 day summit on collective trauma. Each day new videos are released and freely available for the following 48 hours. We're day on Day 4, and I've gotten to watch at least two per day. These are beautiful and very topical talks.

If you're in the U.S. right now, and need a framework to better understand all that is happening, I think it is worth checking out some of these talks.

I'd like to highlight "The Art of Peacemaking: Mediating Conflict in a Traumatized Field" which is from today, and can be found at the top of the link below.

Whether it's with me or another therapist, whether it's just for a few sessions or ongoing, whether you can afford full fee or not, online therapy sessions are a great way to get the support you need.

Even it it's just a single session to help you decompress, online therapy works.

A brief primer on the sharing of labor in a relationship. This focuses somewhat more on housekeeping duties. But of course that's only the beginning of the ways that one partner* tends to take on more of the tasks in relationships.

Virtual sessions offer the intimacy — and comedy — of seeing patients and therapists in their personal environments.

A lot of people are starting to get bored

They've run out of netflix and chill; they've capped out on books, video games... maybe even Instagram!?

The to-do list is done. Or never-ending, after all

The TP Situation — well, it is what is

The new normal is not so new and the news cycle not that fresh

So, yeah... bored

borrrrred

The thing is, being bored is good for you

Being bored is being idle. It’s being here, now. It’s being, instead of consuming

I could link to dozens of articles touting why we need boredom

But I won’t. ‘Cuz then you’d be busy reading those

And I don’t want you busy. I want you bored (^_^)

Online therapy is a good option for most (and rn kinda the only option, in some places)

A small series of sessions is probably all that you need. These will be at a reduced rate, and focused on things like anxiety, overwhelm, social isolation, cabin fever...

Hey, no shame. I think we all could do better at listening to others. And, definitely, it would be nice to have people listen to us more fully.

I have the impression that being fully heard is increasingly in short order. So much so, that awareness of the need atrophies and it sinks down into a low-grade frustration.

The act of truly listening is valuable. It's only become more important to me to provide that to clients, as time has passed.

In therapy, you don't need to say it right. You can take your time to say it. 'It' might not even be in the words you say. But together we can figure out what it is that needs to get heard.
