I’ve started this project, Wabi (https://meetwabi.com), to help people stop physical junk mail, get back control of your life, and ultimately reduce the waste and protect our beautiful Mother Earth.

“Is there a way to unsubscribe all the junk mail?”, I asked myself when I saw a pile of coupons, catalogs, and mails in our living room. Then I started researching online, turns out there are ways to do that but are incredibly time-consuming. I want to build a platform that can help people not just reduce mails but eventually reduce stuff they don’t need, physically and mentally, and enjoy a simpler life.

Currently, Wabi has been used successfully by hundreds of people and saved thousands of trees and counting. I want to invite you to join us and try it out. Feel free to leave a comment or DM me if you have any questions and suggestions. Thanks a lot, and let’s make this world a better place!

P.S. it’s only available in the U.S. at this moment but let me know if you have similar problems in your country.

P.P.S. According to the Center for Development of Recycling at San Jose State University, an American adult receives 41 pounds of junk mail per year. To produce this much paper requires cutting down somewhere between 80 million and 100 million trees annually. If left standing, these trees would absorb 1.7 million tons of CO2 a year.

Life has been challenging in the past couple months. Hope you all are doing well in this unusual time.

I've designed this tote bag to remind myself that distractions can be lesser and life can be simpler despite all of the craziness.

When was your last time learning a new skill?

It’s never gonna be perfect at the first time which makes it fun and inspiring. Challenging yourself can be a good thing to your mind: expand your comfort zone so you know there are more things and opportunities that this world has offered you.

Each experiment opens up my life a little more and gives me a better idea of where I wanna be in the next couple or even 10 years.

What do you feel when you try something new? Let us know!

Rethink your space.
This weekend I spent some time moving around the furnitures in my living room cause I don’t feel like making good use of that space. I don’t have a huge living room and after some observation, turns out the rectangle coffee table is somehow blocking the flow to the sofa which discourages me using it more often subconsciously. After moving the table next to the window with some other arrangements, the living room feels more open and welcoming.
Just like anything in life, small change can make a big difference.
What are your tips of making your space happier? Let us know!

Happy Friday! What was your New Year resolution for 2020 that you commited to? I wanna create this post to remind and review myself on how I’m doing so far. One of my goals is to declutter and have an organized home. Well, I’m not there yet but getting closer day by day.
I've been following the January Cure from since the beginning, a lot of great tips and thoughts. Since I'm behind, I guess I'll have to extend my plan to February lol
What's your hit and miss? Would love to hear your stories too!

Visualize the process, not the outcome.
Recently I’ve learned this technique from ’s latest blog post. According to the research in the blog post, visualizing your goals as if you have already accomplished them may actually be a bad idea cause it might de-motivate you to actually do the hard work since it temporarily provides the positive sensation you seek. So instead of visualizing the final result, it’s better to focus on the actions that happen during the process. If you think of your goal as a result of a sequence of actions, imagining each action can actually help you avoid procrastination and motivate you. At least it definitely helps me visualize my next achievable milestone which encourages me to take every little step to get closer to my dream.
What’s your tip to keep you motivate? Let us know!

What is the biggest bottleneck of your decluttering process? Do you sometimes find it’s hard to move things forward? Here are some of my problems:
👉 Hard to throw out things. Always feel like I will use it at some point. But turns out the next time I see it is a year later without needing it.
👉 Big stuffs that are hard to throw away.
👉 Want to put them in a more proper place but don’t know where to place them in the middle of the process.
Let me know what are your tips to get over those!

Robert Swan is a British historian, explorer and activist, best known for being the first person to walk to both Poles. In 1986 he arrived to the South Pole and three years later, in 1989, he set up a new and successful expedition to reach the North Pole.
Swan is also known for his advocacy of renewable energy and his fight in for the environment, especially of Antarctica. In fact, he is the founder of 2041, a company dedicated to the protection of this continent. In his numerous speeches, Swan warns of the dangers the Earth faces, like in this famous quote: "The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it."
Honestly, given all the extreme weather that we’re experiencing these days like the wild fire in Australia and Indonesia’s devastating floods, how can we not start taking actions and save our planet?

Do you know that biodegradable utensils are not actually composable?

Here are some facts about most of the biodegradable/compostable utensils:
👉 It means that in an industrial composting facility—where they are able to break the bio-plastic down into tiny pieces and compost it with very high heat.

👉 In a home-scale compost bin, they won’t really break down.

👉 Even when they are composted, the quality of the compost is not very good. The “compostable” bio-plastics break down into a very sticky, resin-y debris that creates poor compost that’s not rich and nutritious for plants like compost from truly organic materials.

👉 They can’t be recycled because they’re not plastic. If you put them into recycling, it can screw up the waste stream.

👉 Most of the compostable utensils are made with corn and require a lot of resources.

Best alternative: Ditch single-use utensils and bring your own!

Paper or Plastic Bag?
TL;DR: Bring your own reusable bag
I’ve always heard plastic bag is not good for our environment and for some reason cheaper than paper bag when it comes down to the cost from the business concern. I wanna understand if paper bag is actually a better choice comparing to plastic one. I started searching online to understand more about why paper vs plastic bag. Turns out this is a common debate between choosing paper and plastic bags. For people who are interested in this topic, here is the Fact listed out in allaboutbags.ca:
👉 The belief that paper is better than plastic is not based on science or fact. It is based on misconceptions about how plastic bags are made, how landfills work, the incidence of plastic litter, and that non-biodegrading products are bad for the planet.
👉 Numerous life cycle assessments demonstrate that conventional plastic bags are better for the environment than paper bags.
👉 On resource use: plastic bags play an important role in the conservation of the natural gas resources. In Canada plastic bags are made from ethane which is often burned off in the natural gas refining process.
👉 On manufacturing: paper bag manufacture is much more resource-intensive than plastic bag manufacture.
👉 On reuse: it is difficult to reuse paper bags because they tend to tear.
👉 On solid waste: paper bags have much greater mass and weigh five to seven times more than plastic bags so they add five to seven times more tonnage to the waste stream for municipalities to manage. This in turn results in a fivefold to sevenfold increase in greenhouse gas emissions.
Well, both options have their own pros and cons. Again, the best option is to bring your own bag for all kinds of shopping. At the same time, be more aware of your each purchase which can minimize waste and resources in the long run.
Let me know what you think or if you have different point of view on this topic. Happy to learn more!
