Women innovators at work! When the CDC said medical professionals would need to be okay with turning to bandanas/tee shirts as a last resort/anything they could find--Chief Nurse Tommye Austin wasn't happy with just accepting that!

She and her team set out to create a first-of-its-kind 99% filtration efficiency homemade mask! Great job guys!!

PPEforHCP’s disposable medical masks are 99% filtration efficiency! It's great to see fellow innovators at work and we look forward to seeing the open-source design. 🙏 As we begin to roll out fabric face masks for patients needing to return to their doctors’ offices in for next month for life-saving surgeries, we will be looking to better, awesome hospital-approved designs like these! 🙏

Singapore has been made COVID-famous for its cohesive and successful effort to flatten the curve. As you can see from initial spikes in cases, it really could have been devastating (it's a marathon, not a sprint -- so it's not time to take a breather and let loose yet!). The small Asian city-country's secret ingredient? A top-down, data-driven approach that's readily accessible to all and updated in real-time. https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/7e30edc490a5441a874f9efe67bd8b89

When we finally blink our eyes open and the pandemic is but a nightmare, what world will we wake to?

Cyclic/seasonal community-level transmission or a successfully flattened curve?
Disinformation/fear or transparency/heightened medical and scientific literacy?
Augmented systemic under-service/bias/lack of healthcare accessibility or fairness/basic human needs met?
Small businesses vanished or a cooperative economy that's thriving?

In our thoughts, our actions, our habits we are in this for the long haul. Find out today how to leverage your talents to make the future bright for us all.

Keep ahead of the curve and watch the data! Our continued pursuit of medical and scientific literacy will help us all flatten the curve.

In the early days of COVID-19 (nCov-2019), we thought men were more susceptible to novel coronavirus infection. Immunologist Dr. Philip Goulder explained to the BBC, “The immune response throughout life to vaccines and infections is typically more aggressive and more effective in females compared to males."

As time went on, we saw a more even spread between genders, disproving this notion.

Now, CDC reports the actual facts: a staggering 73% of infections among healthcare workers (who are at high exposure risk) are women.

SARS-CoV-2 does not discriminate, but without careful consideration, the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic might. Demographic data from small studies are already informing political decisions and clinical research strategies. Women and men are affected by COVID-19, but biology and gender norm...
