Went to bed last night unsure of what tomorrow will hold for this country.
Uneasy and unable to sleep.

When I woke up I got a call that a baby will be coming soon.
And so there we were in a cozy room awaiting new life. Everything outside this room was put on hold as we welcomed this precious one. A beacon of light in these dark times.
With a powerful roar this mama met her babe, and just like that the world became a little more beautiful.
Check out midwife Lael’s sheer shock as she weighed this not so little guy! 10lbs of chubs and loves for this beautiful family to enjoy!

It’s always amazing when I get to work with I learn so much at every birth.

Heal💫

Your💫

Womb💫

We are in the middle of month. In this very month I found out 3 of my close friends and 2 people I know lost their babies. Just as I was getting bombarded with good news of friends getting pregnant, I was also getting news of friends in devastation over their loss. A test none of us will understand unless we’ve been through it ourselves. The biggest take away for me is these women need lots of healing. They need closure, rest, love and attention.
I was able to provide some healing to one of my friends this month. Just as I would do a closing for postpartum I did a steam and closing for her loss. I just sat beside her holding her hand as she cried. She, along with the others will need time to heal. Heal not only their womb but their hearts. Until then we can sit beside them, holding them and just letting them cry.

*this is not a picture of her.

40 days of rest. 40 days of you prioritizing yourself to give you a healthier 40 years ahead. I am always so proud of all the mothers who say, I’m going to do things differently this time, I’m going to rest and give my body it’s right. That’s just what this mama did.
This was my last session with her. It was the day before her 40th day postpartum. I prepared a week before for this special session, infusing rose petals in the sun to make my own rose water. As I gently poured the water over her, I reminded her that rose water is known to cleanse your body’s energy. And to envision the water cleansing her as it washes over her body. A beautiful moment for us both.
40 days of love and honor. 40 days, for a lifetime of beautiful memories.

Nine months after delivery and this mama got to enjoy a session with me! I did things a bit differently since she wasn’t immediately postpartum. A warm coconut milk bath and a hot stone back massage is what this relaxing session consisted of. A sweet gift from her husband. It’s never too late to take charge of your postpartum care!

Another beautiful sitz bath for another beautiful mama!
I added eucalyptus leaves to help open up the lungs from this crazy smoke we’ve been having. Have you guys ever tried adding eucalyptus to your shower head or baths? It works wonders! Also check out those huge grapefruits! They made the bath smell A M A Z I N G
Love how this bath has all the beautiful autumn colors!

Last week my friend reached out to me letting me know there was a sister in the community who became a mother and simultaneously a widow. I offered to do a session for her in hopes of giving her some rest. When I got there we settled in to each other immediately. I filled the tub for her and made her a special blend of sitz bath herbs for healing. As we moved to the room and I started massaging her she started opening up about the loss of her husband. She remembers every detail of the events that took place leading up to his passing. As I moved down and started working on her feet she said “my husband would massage my feet every night while I was pregnant” my heart dropped.
I’m not going to go into detail of our time together but there was something she said that stuck with me and I want to share that for anyone who has or is going through any type of loss.
“Allah is the best of planners. I don’t have to like the plan right now. I just have to accept it”
“I don’t have to like the plan right now” that statement is very important when going through a transition like this. As Muslims we always say Allah is the best if planners which indeed He is! But that can make the other person feel as though they aren’t allowed to be upset or devastated. We need to be extremely mindful of things we say to people grieving. Sitting in silence and holding their hand until they are ready to share is probably the best thing we can do to hold that space.
Send a prayer to this mother. You never know it might be your prayer that helps her through this difficult time.
