It's not low carb, but how does the low glycemic index work in our bodies for those of us trying to be keto/low carb. What blocks us from getting enough Vitamin D?

Vitamin D is POWERFUL. And just because its summer and many of us are spending more time outside, that doesn't mean our body is absorbing Vitamin D to its highest potential.

Here's the fact: Getting Vitamin D & ABSORBING Vitamin D are different. Here are some of the reasons your body is not absorbing Vitamin D:

☀️sunscreen - blocks UVB light
☀️Gut dysbiosis
☀️Air pollution - carbon particles in air absorb UVB rays.
☀️Obesity - Vitamin D is easily absorbed in fat tissues and not easily released.
☀️Temperature of your skin - warmer skin is a better producer of Vitamin D.
☀️Skin pigmentation - With darker skin, melanin doesn’t absorb UVB as much.

Check your sunscreen!

American, chemical based sunscreens are used as a common ingredient in sunscreen.

What we know:
- Lab testing shows skin pe*******on rates of 1 to 9 percent.
- Oxybenzone acts as estrogen in the body
- Oxybenzone is linked to abnormal s***m function in animal studies and endometriosis in studies of women. - Oxybenzone also acts as a skin allergen in a significant number of people.

👉Places like Hawaii and Key West have banned oxybenzone in sunscreen due to its ability to bleach and kill coral reefs... That can't be good for your body!!

Health tip: Sleep can strengthen your immune system

Sounds easy enough right?

Sleep deprivation results in poorer immune function due to reduced natural killer cell activity, suppressed interleukin-2 production, and increased levels of circulating pro-inflammatory cytokines.

ALLERGIES are directly related to the effectiveness of the immune system & cortisol levels. When our stress & cortisol levels are HIGH, the result is frequent colds and illness.

When your adrenals have been exhausted by constant stress, our cortisol levels drop... Leading to an overactive immune system.

Overactive immune system = allergies.

The fact is: Spring allergies are stressful. Coping with a stuffy nose, watery eyes, sneezing and a sore throat can have a major effect on how you get through each day.

So how are stress and allergies related?

➖When you're all stressed out, your body releases hormones and other chemicals, including histamine, the powerful chemical that leads to allergy symptoms. So, influence goes both ways: not only can allergies cause stress, but stress can make allergies worse. This is for two reasons;

1.) Psychological - stress amplifies our emotional reaction to any symptoms we are having.

2.) Physical - stress on the body can amplify our symptoms.

❗Allergies = Dysfunctional Immune System

Allergies are an inappropriate and over-exaggerated immune response to a something in the environment.

When a substance (such as pollen or grass) interact with our immune cells, they may label them as a dangerous invader Once they are labeled as "invaders", they develop antibodies against it via immunoglobulin E.

The next time the body encounters that substance, IgE is ready to attack, releasing several inflammatory agents. One of the chemicals released is histamine.

Histamine is responsible for the symptoms of allergies: sneezing, itchy/watery eyes, runny nose, and general feeling of "stuffiness".
