This month, Riyana Rane led a drive at Valley Christian Schools in conjunction with Laughs Change Lives to collect donations for the CityTeam's Women's Shelter Heritage Home. We are profoundly grateful to the parents and community members who came together to donate essential items for these women, including baby products, women's clothing, and hygiene products. Our local Costco and Target also contributed to this month's drive. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for all the donations. As you can see from the pictures, the donations truly made the women's day. They were overjoyed and eager to use the items for themselves and their babies. Each woman assisted in moving the items and immediately smiled and laughed with the other women as they looked over the donations. Please know that you are making a difference in the lives of others. If you still have any more donations, please dm me so that we can get them into the right hands. Thank you so much! Nimeesha Nadkarni Rane Yogesh GymJunkie Rane

During Women's History Month, we really believe in honoring women and the world they live in. "Be the woman that uplifts and empowers other women."
On March 1st, March 8th (International Women's Day), and March 15th, we spent our time with the women's home in San Jose. We try to be a consistent and reliable source for these women week after week. These women are so grateful and greet us with their love and smiles. They know that we will be there and offer them our support and time so they can take that much needed break for themselves. We get precious baby time while the mamas get to go grab a quick bite to eat, shower, finish a class, cook dinner, or do their laundry. Every woman deserves a little break to be a better mom for their little one. We are grateful that we get to be there for these moms. We smile, we laugh, we joke, and we bring joy to each other every week. Thank you to the women of this center that make it a beautiful home. CityTeam Riyana Rane Nimeesha Nadkarni Rane

Last week we had the opportunity to go to the Hospice of the Valley (a division of Sutter Care at Home). We dropped a car full of emoji pillows as our ongoing donation to them once a quarter. We also dropped off some dignity bibs that the elderly in hospice use daily. There is a huge need for these if anyone ever wants to donate them. We collect these all year long through Laughs Change Lives and are happy to drop them to this hospice center or some of the local nursing homes. This month we also donated fifty plus emoji stress balls. Teri, the volunteer program coordinator, mentioned that our emoji pillows are so loved by not only the hospice patients but also by the bereavement counselors who work with the loved ones of those who passed away. They do bring smiles and joy with the staff, patients, and the loved ones (children and adults) equally and were grateful for our donations. - Riyana Rane Nimeesha Nadkarni Rane

During last week, I got to work on the linen closet for the women's home. The linen closet at the home holds the bed sheets/ fitted sheets, crib sheets, towels, blankets and quilts. With the daily hustle of newborns and their moms, you can imagine that this closet gets messy. It was my pleasure to clean and organize this closet for the new mamas. It will be one less thing that they have to worry about. Thank you CityTeam for the opportunity. - Riyana Rane

On February 16th, Riyana Rane had the opportunity to work in the baby storage closet. With the winter donations, this room was overwhelmed and piled with items.
According to Riyana, "I had the opportunity to clean it up for these women. It is nice when all items are folded, stacked and hung up when the women come to collect the items that are much needed for their babies. CityTeam and the home takes pride in keeping these rooms clean for the women so that they like any new mom can feel great as they come and find the perfect items for their newborns. Here are the before and after pictures from our day. We love volunteering and bringing joy to these deserving women." Nimeesha Nadkarni Rane
"At the end of the afternoon, I did get some baby bonding time as well which is always my favorite part."

On Jan 12 and Jan 19th, Riyana Rane had the opportunity to really bond with the babies. Holding the babies and playing with them afterschool is a win- win -for everyone. The moms here get a little break for themselves during this time as they work so hard throughout the week to learn computer, school, and life skills. And I get the opportunity to take care of these sweet and precious babies. These babies are beginning to recognize me from the week before and that alone is a reward for me. I am so grateful to CityTeam for getting to help these sweet moms and their babies. Thank you Valley Christian Schools for instilling the the values of compassion and service before self in our daily lives. Riyana Rane Nimeesha Nadkarni Rane

On Jan 2, 2023 We had the opportunity to volunteer and organize the the storage closet of Heritage Home by CityTeam. Riyana and Nimeesha Nadkarni Rane sorted through many donated items and clothes and helped them to organize the clothes by age group and items by type. It is nice when new moms are able to come to a clean and organized area to pick out items for their newborn babies. Thank you so much for allowing us to help your organization. Laughs Change Lives also donated many diapers, wipes, hand towels, and other baby items to the new moms organization today. Thank you so much for your donations as we love to help out organizations like this. We as always also brought more of our emoji pillows to bring joy to the young moms and older siblings. These pillows and their silly faces bring smiles to all ages and we are so happy that Riyana continues to distribute these to various organizations. Behind the Idea

During the 14th century, French surgeon Henri de Mondeville used humor to distract patients from the pain endured during surgery as well as a therapy to aid recovery. This idea of using humor and laughter to keep patients from remembering their pain is what we hope to accomplish. As a child there really isn't much we can give to others besides the joy of laughter. When I was little, my sister and I would spend many weekends and evenings visiting my grandparents' house. And I learned early on that the one thing we could truly give them was laughter and help them to forget about their ailments. In the past five years as their health deteriorated, we visited the hospital, and we saw firsthand how our visits and laughter helped them find hope. Unfortunately, in this last year, their health took a turn for the worse and we ended up losing both within less than 10 months of each other. For me, this was devastating as I grew up around them and couldn't imagine not seeing their smiles again. And that's when I decided that I wanted to commemorate their memory and spread that joy with others by bringing laughter and smiles on the faces of people in the hospital.
