Grateful to host today’s Veterans Round Table with Congressman Dave Min at IVC. Thank you for taking the time to sit with our veteran and military-connected students, listen to their stories, and answer their questions with honesty and care. Big thanks to our students for showing up, speaking up, and shaping the future of veteran support on campus and beyond.

🇺🇸 Veterans Day at IVC: Bridging the Gap 🇺🇸
Today, we came together to honor our nation’s heroes under this year’s theme — “Bridging the Gap: The Value of Your Experience in a Changing World.”

Our guest speaker, Brent Theobald, shared powerful insights on resilience, purpose, and adapting to change — reminding us how valuable military experience remains in every chapter of life.

A heartfelt thank you to our student veteran and staff veteran panelists for opening up and sharing their stories with honesty and courage. Your experiences continue to inspire our campus and community.

We also celebrated the U.S. Marine Corps’ 250th Birthday with a traditional cake-cutting ceremony — honoring the legacy and brotherhood that continues to shape generations of service members.

To all who have served — thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and for continuing to bridge the gap between past and present with strength and heart. ❤️💙🤍

🐎 Week Three 10/20/25: Identity in Motion

Our student veterans practiced tacking, bridling, and riding fundamentals: Go, Stop, and Turn; while learning how their personality connects with their assigned horse.
Each pairing helps uncover deeper self-awareness, bridging who they were in service with who they’re becoming today.

🧠 Week Two 10/13/25: Adapting & Adjusting

This week, our veterans got hands-on with leading, grooming, and learning about tack. Every session encourages adaptability and patience reminding us that personal growth often happens outside our comfort zones.
Just like in civilian life, embracing change is key to finding balance and confidence again.

🐴 Week One: New Beginnings

Our second cohort of student veterans kicked off their 6-week equine therapy journey at the Shea Center! This first session focused on safety, horsemanship, and learning to connect with the horses.
It’s incredible to see each veteran begin building trust, awareness, and confidence one step at a time.

🇺🇸✨ National Women Veterans Day at IVC ✨🇺🇸
This morning, the IVC Veterans Services Center had the absolute honor of treating our incredible Women Veterans—students, staff, and administrators—to a special breakfast at Everyday Eatery in celebration of National Women Veterans Day! 🥞💐
These women are more than warriors—they are leaders, mentors, mothers, daughters, and trailblazers. Their courage, strength, and sacrifice continue to shape the future of the military and our communities. Today, we recognized not just their service, but the powerful legacy they carry as women who have worn the uniform with pride.
We were also thrilled to welcome Elizabeth Rocha, Chair of the OCVMFC Women Veterans Working Group, as our special guest! Her advocacy and voice continue to inspire and uplift Women Veterans across Orange County and beyond. 💪💙
Here’s to our Women Warriors—your resilience is unmatched, your stories are powerful, and your presence is transformative. We see you, we honor you, and we celebrate you—today and every day. 💫🎖️

Week Six: Technical Obstacle Course – Connection, Grounding & Moving Forward
In the final week of our equine therapy program, student veterans faced their most demanding challenge yet: a highly technical obstacle course designed to test not only their horsemanship but their ability to stay present, calm, and connected under pressure.
Navigating the course required clear communication with the horse, sharp focus, and the kind of emotional regulation that often mirrors the everyday challenges of transitioning to civilian life. Every step—over, under, around—asked for mindfulness, patience, and trust.
The course wasn’t about perfection; it was about progress. And for many, it became a turning point in reconnecting with themselves and understanding how inner balance creates outer control.
Image “This course reminded me that it’s okay not to have all the answers—as long as you keep breathing and take the next step with intention.”
— Jean A., USMC Veteran & Program Participant

A Message from the IVC Veterans Services Center:
This program has been about more than learning to work with horses. It’s been about rebuilding trust—within yourself and with others. You’ve shown vulnerability, strength, adaptability, and courage in every session.
As you move forward, remember that grounding isn’t just a skill—it’s a lifeline. In a fast-paced civilian world, your ability to slow down, listen, and lead from within will continue to serve you in powerful ways.
We’re proud of you, and we’re here for you. The barn doors may close, but this journey of growth is only just beginning.
