Winter garden going in. Thank goodness, I have help. Bathroom ready for tile, so I'll be back in full swing soon. I'm missing you Farm Girls.

Owls: I wasn't expecting a visit. I forgot about their soundless flight, uneven ear placement to pinpoint exact spot where prey is in total darkness. Talons to kill on contact. Yes, protection is key. The Rhode Island Red, pictured in coop, Athena, survived an attack. I saw a magestic barn owl lift off and levitate effortlessly without sound. The white chicken wasn't so lucky. RIP Nike. Predator lights and netting going up in new pen. Until then, EVERYONE cooped by dusk.

Hello summer, thank you for the apricots. I'll leave you this glorious feather as thanks. Ducklings, Coco and Cleo Campbell are cute as can be, and one with a little puff just like our Gilda Mae we recently lost.

How do you handle snakes in your coop? I'm so grateful to see gopher snakes because, ahem, we have a bit of a deer mice problem, and I can't stomach poison. some people commented that this, indeed, was s rattler in my coop. What do you think?

The first food for bees of the season, and it's good for you too.

I've also used dandelion salve and infused oil on my achy lower back after a long day of gardening and it helped soothe my sore muscles.

I haven't even wintered my garden, some yes, but not every bed. I need to up my game this year to really grow into my potential. Chicken p**p and hay your hearts out!
