Joseph Turner, Psy.D. We are developmental psychologists offering objective information regarding cutting edge research in the realms of infant mental health, developmental psychology, medicine, neuroscience, and attachment theory for parents, parents-to-be, and professionals in the field. We are interested in bridging the gap between the worlds of scientific research and parenting with the aim of delivering research findings in a practical and applicable manner. We hope that we can help parents and parents-to-be learn about the experience of pregnancy (for the developing fetus, mother, and father or partner), the critical importance of early interactions between infant and mother (and other caregivers) on early brain development, and overall become familiar with developmental milestones and the general developmental trajectory that all humans experience throughout their childhood. Our belief is that the prenatal period and the first year of life essentially sets the tone for the developmental lifespan. To that end, we hope to advocate for healthy and informed pregnancies, confident and emotionally flexible infants, and strong and compassionate parents and caregivers.
