If you could do one thing over as a parent, what would it be?

This is how we all feel be it freshman year, senior year, grad school or starting off in their own!! We drop them off, but we don’t leave them.

We let them go, but we don’t stop being available.

We say goodbye for a moment, but our door is always open and our phone is always near just in case they call.

We never stop being their parent.
And they never stop being our child.

No mattter the age.
No matter the distance.

We are there to listen. To help. To encourage. To offer words of wisdom. To console. To guide. To nurture. To pray.

It may look different once they are out of the home, but our place in their lives is no less important than it was when they were little.

There is something incredibly valuable about knowing you have a family at home who loves you dearly. There is comfort in knowing there is a warm bed and a hot meal should you need it. These are the gifts we continue to give.

We drop them off, but we don’t leave them.
They are always with us.
They are always a part of us.

Because we never stop being their parent.

My bucket list for 2025 has its first entry today! Manitou Incline! First it is not 2000’, it is 2786’. It was one where the last 900’ were heavily debated. The only bailout is at 1800’, so once you are committed it’s all the way up! It definitely was amazing and incredibly hard. Notes: 1:42 to get to the top! Wear shoe spikes in the winter, I never would have made it without them! Take lots of breaks & support those who pass you (young, younger, fitter, everyone is struggling!). The BARR trail down is 3.15 miles, long but beautiful! Take lots of water! ✅
